WWII on the Land
Ground combat in the Second World War took place in a wide variety of climes -
arctic (Leningrad, the Aleutians), desert (North Africa), jungle (Burma), the bocage (France),
woods (the Ardennes), swamps (the Prippet Marshes), beaches (Okinawa)...
The war also saw rapid growth in the technology of war, so that the techniques of
the early blitzkriegs are hardly the same as the sophisticated combined-arms tactics in
use in the final campaigns.
