Thank you! But I must disagree on one point. In an important way, the Model 1795 Springfield WAS revolutionary. It was on a contract for 1795 Springfields that Eli Whitney moved us a long way toward interchangeable parts and assembly lines. Often in dealing with Army personnel policy, I had to remind myself of the US military's long-held belief in interchangeability. |
