The last time we checked, the American Civil War was the most popular historical period among readers of this website - and not just among Americans! This horrendous war features great generals and incompetent ones, a wide variety of situations, and nearly every gamer thinks he can master the tactics of the period (though few do!).

Besides the great battles fought on land, the American Civil War also includes some of the first skirmishes between armored ships.
