Hi!

I've finished the first unit of My Union Army :

My goal is to do one unit per month, exclusively metal Perry Miniatures.

And then, I'll start My Confederate Army project!

A lot of work ahead!

I hope you'll like it!

Max

Nice work. How many Union regiments do you intend to make. Regimental commanders discovered pretty early in the war that being mounted on a horse was hazardous to one's health, but they do look good.

looking good. Do keep us posted.

Tried commenting on your blog but not sure what happened – anyway – great stuff. I cannot wait to see the rest of this project as it unfolds. I have done a metal Confederate army – well – mostly metals – about 95%.

Thanks for your comments ;-)

My goal is to include the following units:

- 1st Infantry Regiment (24 figs + mounted colonel)
- 2nd Infantry Regiment (24 figs + mounted colonel)
- 3rd Infantry Regiment (24 figs + mounted colonel)
- Zouave Regiment (24 figs + mounted colonel)
- Sharpshooters (18 figs)
- 1st Cavalry Regiment (12 figs)
- 2nd Cavalry Regiment (12 figs)
- Field Artillery (3 pieces)
- Heavy artillery (1 piece)
- High Command (3 generals + 1 standard-bearer)

Generals will be mounted for added style ;-)

I will maybe add a limber team and a dismounted cavalry unit if I'm still motivated…

I received your message, Woolshed Wargamer, thank you! I'm a regular follower of your blog.

I'd like to take this opportunity to ask you where you found the drummer holding his kepi in your Confederate command?

Do you intend to game with them? If so, what rules?

Blue Max12 May 2025 11:00 p.m. PST

I don't plan on playing with them yet.

But once I have two finished armies, the temptation to pit them against each other on the tabletop will be irresistible!

What rules do you recommend?

What rules do you recommend?

Pretty much all of them.

Black Powder, Fire and Fury, Hot Lead and Cold Steel, Longstreet, Pickett's Charge. They all work pretty well.

Excellent achievement Blue Max, and like your goals!

I think Gettysburg Soldiers is one of those ACW rulesets that ticks all the boxes, and has a new gamer up and running asap (so check them out also).

Excellent work. I would make one suggestion, however, mix the order on the painting table to one USA then one CSA. That method will allow you to field opposing forces quicker. It would be a shame to have the whole union army done only to lose interest before the first rebel unit is painted.

Thanks for your advice, guys!

I may switch to Confederates for a while, if my interest for the Union goes down, but for now, I can't wait to pull up my Union zouaves!

Very nice work as always.

The water bottles and slings recommendations are correct.

Best wishes,

Chris
