No, I don't mean an invasion of the elderly, but Alien Greys.

I just ordered some Zombiesmith Greys for a participation or solo game I have thought up:

The players control the Greys and have various objectives: abduction, scientific 'tests', make crop circles, cow tipping, rescuing of MIA Greys from previous missions, setting up information collectors (which beam info to the mothership on a daily basis), or even to remove alien infestations that could bring unwanted attention to their presence.

To this end, does anyone make 28mm scale farmers, and where can I find some 'men in black' types as the enemy for the games?

Does anyone make a model space ship that would be useful?

Not sure what rules I will be using yet – may use Arc of Fire with a few tweaks.

headzombie27 Apr 2009 4:36 p.m. PST

Good choice! ;-)

Copplestone makes some nice men-in-black!
Farmers I ain't sure about.

MIB – look in the Future Wars range at EM4 or Copplestone Castings, or some from Heroscape at a push (will need re-basing and maybe a paint job touch up).
Sure someone does some farmer style figures – you can perhaps use western figures (if not armed).

Beaten to it!

shelldrake27 Apr 2009 4:41 p.m. PST

Those EM4 figures look like they will do very nicely for what I want :-)

General civilian types would be useful for urban games too. I saw some hostages the otherday.. cant remember who made them though :-(

Smokey Roan27 Apr 2009 4:54 p.m. PST

Spinespur has some GREAT Men in Black.

For farmers, check Old Glorys wild west lines, you can get like 20 figs for cheap.

GreatScot7227 Apr 2009 4:55 p.m. PST

Mega Minis does some civilian types-not sure about farmers. Nonetheless, you might find a good enough proxy in the Redneck set (I'm thinking overalls).

Also, check out RAFM (both Call of Cthulu and the ultramoderns line).

oldhans11727 Apr 2009 5:05 p.m. PST

Ever get to play X-COM: UFO Defense, that series had some great ideas to run a campaign like this.

flooglestreet27 Apr 2009 5:25 p.m. PST

Brigade games and hobbies has an alien invasion line which includes two MiB and three farmers. The earthlings are almost at the end of the alien invasion selection
Testors used to make an "area 51" flying saucer, purportedly a model of a real flying saucer that the government has hidden away in a top secret research facility. This model seems to work well according to posts here or in the Lead Adventure Forum. I'm sorry I couldn't turn up anything for you, but if you search these forums and plastic model retailers, you should find it.

Smokey Roan27 Apr 2009 5:31 p.m. PST

Check out Extra Crispys store too. I got farmers from his old west lines.

flooglestreet27 Apr 2009 5:56 p.m. PST

You can get a flying saucer from Pegasus hobbies in 1/72. This might go with your Zombiesmith Greys which are about 15 mm tall, I believe.

Lampyridae27 Apr 2009 6:09 p.m. PST

Blue Moon does some cheezy (and pricey) saucers. Alternatively you could just make a Black Triangle out of plasticard.

In case you want to game some dogfights of your plucky Grey jocks versus the stone-age humans, Majic Miniatures does UFOs in 1/300 and 1/600:

I've gotten the Pegasus Hobby 'Area 51 saucer'
pegasushobbies.com

…and started doing an 'interior' for it…with the 'Zombiesmith GREYS' in mind for it (landed version of course)…and they are in proportion to the hatch detail on the underside! 8-) I also like their 'attitude' (there is a female GRAY figure that appears to be 'flipping the bird' as a gesture of 'peace and friendship'…ack, ack, ack, ack!!!)

Conversely, you could use 15mm greys from
15mm.co.uk/Grey_Aliens.htm
and they also have mini-saucers/scoutships to go with it…

or…you could get some 'greys' from Horrorclix as your 'advance PROBE team' rebasing them and have the Zombiesmith 'Greys' being the 'Space Police Types'…(keeping other 'alien species' from VIOLATING a prime directive, cows and other wildlife????)

Lotsa 'Grey aliens' out there from a half-dozen companies I could provide links to, and options for 'saucers' ranging from the Pegasus hobby (relatively inexpensive)…to gluing together two styrofoam/plastic bowls/plates (very cheap and with a little water-based poster paint…Ta-DAH!!!)…

But, as I said, I got the Zombiesmith grays especially for the Pegasus Saucer, with intent to do a 'flying version' and landed version…both with 'interiors' and modding some figures for 'flight crew', to be 'visible' on the inside!

Have FUN!!!

(FYI, Fenryll does some resin 'Greys' including a SENIOR CITIZEN set of Gray, erm…GREYS!!! Ma in a scifi rocker, pa Grey with beard and cane, then Mom and Dad as Trekker type and 'suburbanite wife' and jr grey and alien dog playing with saucer-frisby thing…! 8-)

Slishfully,
Sgt DWW-bartentacle on duty!

A man after my own heart! You have got to take pictures and write up a review once you play. Can't wait to hear how it went.

Here are plenty of suggestions for MIBs:

I really like that premise:

"The Alien Pet Theory: Concieved by the Chupacabra's resemblance to an extraterrestrial 'grey', the alien theory suggests that it is a pet belonging to some careless aliens who "let it out." The close association with UFO sightings (happening in the same area) back this theory."

Many thanks for the links and suggestions – very helpful grin

As I have only just ordered the Aliens, and have yet to buy the other figures I will need, it might be a little while before I have any game reports to write up, but I will post updates as I come up with new ideas or get some new figures for the game.

I think I will also get the Perry ACW house for use as a farm house in the game.

Shelldrake: "but I will post updates as I come up with new ideas or get some new figures for the game"

Please do!

I have lots of Greys (Copplestones, Brigade, Griffin and others), along with tons of MIB candidates, and would love to see what direction you take, what other figures and scenery you get and what scenarios you develop.

Thanks.

Dan
PS. Here are what the Brigade ones look like (though I still need to paint their outfits and the bases):

:-P I only started this idea on a whim yesterday – saw the aliens and ordered them… then began the process of figuring out what I wanted to do with them.

I intend for the game to be a comedy type game, and I am still not sure what rules I will use.

I pulled apart an old Computer CPU fan that I will turn into a "spinner" flying platform mounted on a flying base.

shelldrake28 Apr 2009 5:18 p.m. PST

Ooh – just had a great thought for figures – the Hasslefree "Pesky Kids with dog".

I am sure I can fit these into the game.

Cacique Caribe28 Apr 2009 8:15 p.m. PST

Just a thought . . .

I know you are going to use 28mm figures, but hear me out . . .

For runaway "pets" you should also consider getting the hammerhead version of these:

I think the size difference (they are 15mm) will add to their "cuteness" factor . . . that and a different (lighter) paint scheme.

Shelldrake,

If these rules interest you . . . I could buy it, keep the plastic figures and send you the rules:

CC – I was thinking of 15mm Aliens as the 'pets', but didn't know about the ones you pointed out, so many thanks.

The Martians!!! game looks interesting – I would be more intersted in the cards, as I was intending to use cards for the game mechanics for my game.

The cards would give me my mission objectives, and control the humans trying to stop them, as well as implementing random events (such as all vehicles stop when a UFO passes over them, and memory wipe; humans affected wake up with a hole in their memory for the last X hours).

Check this out:

"The witnesses additionally claimed to have used firearms to shoot at the creatures, with little or no effect, and the house and surrounding grounds were extensively damaged during the incident."

Farmers vs Aliens!!!

Ideal for what I am planning… only with the Aliens as the heroes, not the farmers evil grin

ShellDrake,

Any progress on this?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Thanks.

So far I have attempted the crop circle, and purchased a few minis (aliens and Men in Black types)… that is about as far as I have gone with the whole project, but I know of some more minis I want to buy – copplestone hill billies from the Gangster range, and the Perry Miniatures plastic house for the farm house.

Wellspring06 Sep 2009 8:19 a.m. PST

I've had this idea for a three-sided game but I'm still working out the details.

The civilian objective is to get The Truth. They get The Truth by witnessing flying saucers and/or greys, or getting probed.

The grey objective is to get Probe counters onto as many humans as possible.

The MiB objective is to have no Truth or Probe counters on the map at the end of the scenario.

So the dynamic is that the greys won't directly go after large clumps of humans (because otherwise they give the civilians too much of an advantage). So they'll only attack lone hill billies-- which the civilian player has to send out or he won't get ANY Truth counters going. MiB's want to either kill Greys or mind-wipe or kill Probed civilians.

Hopefully at that point it self-balances. Each faction has a reason and a mechanic that allows them to cooperate or compete with either of the other two factions.

BTW, does anyone know if Rebel Minis or GZG are coming out with 15mm men in black?

Cacique Caribe06 Sep 2009 1:22 p.m. PST

Rebel is supposed to:

The problem is that I can't be the only one asking him for them. He has to see lots of posts or emails from different people to gauge interest and potential.

Shelldrake,

Ever seen these comic books (er, graphic novels)?

"Plot Summary
The town's destroyed and most folks are either dead or carried off into the night by them green-skinned sonsabitches. Mankind's only hope… a handful of rednecks holed up in a tiny farmhouse. Outnumbered, out-gunned, out-brained. But as long as a fella's too stupid to know he's beat, then there's a chance. And our heroes are pretty stupid."
