In one of their DNA and specimen collection visits, something went seriously wrong. A previously collected female, from a species known for their ravenous appetite escaped. Even worse, the female was gravid (pregnant) and immediately began laying eggs and hunting on her new home . . . EARTH! So, what about reworking the head on these? They would be about the right size, wouldn't they? link Instead of carrying those weapons, I would make some of them carry a two-pronged blade for exsanguination. What do you think? CC |

What about the head-crest? Do you suggest moving it to the middle of the back on the figure? CC |

It's a well known fact[1] that Humans were created by the Gods to do their menial labor. [1] Ok, only well known to Sumerians

Cool. I converted one of the oldest plastic skinks by chopping off the top of his head, removing the frillage, and just sculpting back a regular head with milliput. Of course, mine got an H&K MP-5 PDW. I had always thought about doing more, but all the skinks I saw were gecko-y and metal. It was too much work

I don't think of Chupacabras as being as scaly as Skinks. I think I'd just go with Kroot Hounds: link |
Dewbakuk | 07 Aug 2007 12:35 p.m. PST |
I've removed the crests from all of mine to make them a more generic looking Lizardman. I can see if I can get a picture if you want? |
Cacique Caribe | 07 Aug 2007 2:23 p.m. PST |
Dewbakuk, I'd love to see them! Thanks. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 07 Aug 2007 2:41 p.m. PST |
Oh. And about the frill/crest being moved to the back, this is what I mean: link What do you think? Doable? CC |
Dewbakuk | 09 Aug 2007 1:30 a.m. PST |
Here you go CC, I had some that I hadn't altered yet so they got the knife. I removed the crest more carefully on these and took a couple of pics with the crests tacked to their backs. link |
Cacique Caribe | 09 Aug 2007 6:22 a.m. PST |
Wow. Thanks! That simple move of the crest certainly makes for quite a big change in the overall look. link I will probably place the crests on mine just a bit higher on the back. And I still have to figure out what to do with the weapon hands. Very, very nice, Dewbakuk! And much appreciated. CC |

No problem, glad to help. |
Cacique Caribe | 09 Aug 2007 4:12 p.m. PST |
Dewbakuk, Are you planning to use them as Chupacabras? If so, are you thinking of making any modifications to their faces? If so, what? Thanks. CC |

There are some interesting (and alien-like) ideas out there: link picture And others here: TMP link CC |

No, I use mine as low/swamp land Venusian savages in VSF. I wanted a generic lizardman feel and losing the crest of the skinks achieved that. Really changes the look. |
Cacique Caribe | 10 Aug 2007 8:43 p.m. PST |
I am very surprised that very few have mentioned trying these skink figures for SF gaming. The simple movement of the crest makes them instant primitive reptilian troops for any 15mm, 25mm and even 28mm-30mm SF gaming (in the larger scales, they look great as pygmy lizardmen). CC |

Just thought of this . . . I wonder if those spears, and other weapons, could be made to look like advanced staff-type weapons (a la Stargate). Hmm. CC |

Ok. If I take GW "Hormagaunts", remove the middle pair of limbs, and use "Genestealer" claw arms instead of the scything arms, could the Hormagaunts pass for large "Chupacabras"? picture TMP link CC |
Cacique Caribe | 26 Mar 2008 5:07 p.m. PST |
Or what about a GW Hormagaunt (minus middle limbs) with a Kroot head? Would it look anything like this? link What do you think? CC |

Just a thought . . . For runaway "pets" you should also consider getting the hammerhead version of these: TMP link link picture picture picture I think the size difference (they are 15mm) will add to their "cuteness" factor . . . that and a different (lighter) paint scheme. link link TMP link CC |
