Actually I have ten poses of "rednecks" and some are even in overalls! But Piers hasn't got around to painting them yet. |

Reminds me of the "Lost in Space" episode, where some of the folks from the Jupiter Two wound up in some rural US backwater. "Voltones", or something like that, the locals called the crewies

If you could only shrink my co-workers, LOL. Seriously though, as a transplant from Lake County Illinois to Massac County Illinois, the one really truly odd phenomena I witness here often is people pulling empty trailers. I can't explain it. It's like folks like to take their empty trailers and flatbeds for a little spin regularly. I have no explanation for it. I have never witnessed this anywhere else in the US. It is a phenomena on both sides of the Ohio River, and often seen on I-24. If your last line of defense exists in extreme southern Illinois and western Kentucky, then you must have pick-ups towing empty trailers. Also, the predominant color for pick-up trucks is curiously white. For 4 passenger vehicles, any basic color older Lincoln town car will do, if you are in-town. I am not exaggerating. Even the UPS truck around here pulls a single axle brown UPS box trailer. This equipment is De Rigueur if you are planning a western KY scenario. Absolutely no offense intended to the local population for their quaint habits of motoring Americana. Incidentally, I think that Lost In Space episode was called Space Croppers. |

I agree
. And speaking of which I wonder when mine are going to show up. Yes, I plan to wander around California in over-alls

Roderick Campbell made some. Though, I think those would be more appropriate as trailer trash than as farm folk. |
Cacique Caribe | 16 Jan 2012 9:33 p.m. PST |
Roderick Campbell did an awesome job with those: link Now we need armed farm folk (with either guns or cameras)!!!

"It's like folks like to take their empty trailers and flatbeds for a little spin regularly. I have no explanation for it. I have never witnessed this anywhere else in the US. It is a phenomena on both sides of the Ohio River, and often seen on I-24. " Dropping a trailer is a lot of work. You can't expect them to drop the trailer on the only vehicle that starts just for a milk and beer run
. We can't forget the redneck fantasy of findings something big and expansive along the side of the road. There just isn't time to go get a trailer in that situation.
Unfortunately, that scenario played out in my family. My dad once found a massive hydraulic ram work several hundred thousand. It had fallen off a trailer and into the ditch. I think he got $100 USD finders fee from the owners once he figured out who it belonged to. |

We must indeed!!! Because of prolonged unemployment and costly operations, I'm thinking of scratch building a small farm house, instead of buying a plastic HO one: TMP link
So I hope that, by the time I finally finish that phase of the project, there will already be some 15mm farmers in production: TMP link And I hope it includes a couple of farmer's daughters: link Fingers crossed. Dan |

More Rednecks. We all know that REAL LIFE instances like aliens, tornadoes, and Jerry Springer episodes only occur around Rednecks
|
Pyrate Captain | 17 Jan 2012 7:21 p.m. PST |
True. Tons of evidence that Rednecks are reality magnets. It's their suave mannerisms that are so attractive to aliens. Being a 28mm kind of guy, I am uneducated in the disciplines of 15mm. That being said, does anyone make 15mm white pick-up trucks and empty trailers? |
Etranger | 17 Jan 2012 9:36 p.m. PST |
IS 1/87 close enough for you Andrew? auction Cap'n, Peter Pig have 15mm technicals which are basically Toyota pick ups, & there are plenty in the Matchbox, Hot Wheels etc ranges that will do at a pinch. There are jeep trailers around. |

What if the aliens are just alien versions of rednecks? We think they're all advanced and stuff, but given their record of crashing and getting caught on film, maybe they are just alien rejects, getting lost on their vacations, visiting tourist attractions. Maybe we're the alien equivelant of those back woods horror movies? Bunch of alien college student on a road trip break down and then the savage monkeys catch them, lock them up, torture them. Good god, are we the ET version of "Deliverance"? -Eli |
Pyrate Captain | 18 Jan 2012 2:21 p.m. PST |
I often wondered if the Kelly-Hopkinsville incident was not the result of some alien teens pulling some pranks. They probably got into the old alien's saurian brandy, borrowed the saucer without permission and got in trouble with the locals. |
