What do you guys think?

Do we need more, for such scenarios as Terminator Salvation, where variety is key, and where troop units will be made up of individuals from multiple arms of the service as well as tactical law enforcement and well-equiped contractors/survivalists.

Something along these lines, perhaps?

We need shed loads of everything new in 15mm, no kidding. Especially modern buildings and street furniture (my own bugbear). But seriously. Moar! Moar!

Rebel Mike,

I absolutely LOVE your current "Contractor" and "Hunters" sets:

However, I think that an additional set or two of survivalists/contractors/mercs would be a hot seller.

Perhaps a combination of this look . . .

PS. I would love the same variants both on foot and horse, but I may be pushing it a little, right? :)

Some of the old Traveller figures that RAFM is bringing back would work very well for such figures, particularly the Space Pirates, Crewmen, Planetary Militia and Guerillas.

Some of Peter Pig's AK47 Republic range would also do nicely, especially the awesome "Hardened Militia" figures.

Ivan,

Thanks. However, I found that the PP "hardened militia", though great sculpts with dynamic poses, are just too small when compared to the Rebel Minis, GZG and CMG figures I have been buying.

Now, if the AK-47 were to be re-sculpted to today's "larger" 15mm proportions, I would buy them in a millisecond.

Also, it seems as though the other PP ranges are not all sculpted to the same size/proportion standards:

link

The only Rebel Minis range/set I've found to be small, when compared to their other figures, seems to be their Fedayeen. All others in the Rebel Minis line seem to be consistent with each other.

Hot babes with AK's are never a bad thing.

Cacique Caribe18 Nov 2009 7:09 a.m. PST

I know. I really like this one, but the sculptor will have to accentuate some things on the miniature, for the sake of the average gamer:

One pack of the Peter Pig Hardened Militia is female, perhaps they would be usable, since women are shorter on average?

Lion in the Stars18 Nov 2009 11:19 a.m. PST

I don't have a problem with the Fedayeen's smaller size: You'd be amazed what a good diet early in life does to the average size of people. Do you remember that French blog from Afghanistan, where the writer was commenting about how much bigger the US troops are compared to his unit?

Lion: "Do you remember that French blog from Afghanistan, where the writer was commenting about how much bigger the US troops are compared to his unit?"

Wow. That sounds like an awesome story. I would love to find that.

Anyone else agree that we need more survivalists, contractors and mercenaries in 15mm?

Kyoteblue,

What specific types would you want?

Dan

Fabe Mrk 221 Nov 2009 4:45 p.m. PST

I'm going to be playing All Things Zombie in 15mm so I would love to see more civilian survivalist type figures.

Cacique Caribe21 Nov 2009 5:38 p.m. PST

Kyoteblue sent me a PM with the following suggestion:

"How about some Guys just standing around weapons slung checking ID's."

I kinda like that!

Any other suggestions from you guys?

The figures described above would fit in great with the early resistance period in Terminator:

Yup, I'll chime in again for survivors on horseback, mounted and dismounted…

Wellspring12 Dec 2009 9:08 p.m. PST

I'd say a lot of these can be made through good painting, not necessarily by sculpting new miniatures. With a good paint job, conventional infantry can become scrappy mercenaries, Men in Black can become pimps, lawyers and hostages.

I do reiterate my demand for more females in 15mm, MiB's, and Transhuman-style genetailored humans in nanosuits. Special Characters. More minis in freefall poses.

Oh and the AV6 and AV9 in 15mm. :)

Cacique Caribe13 Dec 2009 3:40 p.m. PST

How do you like the look of these guys?

Dan

Dave Crowell16 Dec 2009 4:57 a.m. PST

Civilians with civilian guns and weapons please!

Deer hunters, duck hunters, early outbreak zombie survivors. Survivalists with less than military grade equipment.

And yes, more paramilitary survivalists, contractors, MiBs etc. SWAT, sheriff's patrol etc.

And absolutely street dress and modern 15mm kipple.

nvdoyle09 Apr 2010 8:19 a.m. PST

Well, to answer the OP, 'Yes!' grin

And here's what I'd want: Me and my shooting range buddies in full SHTF homebrewed 'battle rattle'. That's 'tactical' jeans, hiking/combat boots, t-shirt/collared shirt, depending on weather, tactical vest (lots of pockets and mags), pistol on the belt, M4gery in arms. Baseball caps and eyepro. Maybe some kneepads (we're not getting any younger…).

Come Zombietime, there'd be a lot of people like that.

(But I do have to agree, painting would take care of some of those details…but I'd still like to see more contractor/survivalist types!)

Stepman309 Apr 2010 11:51 a.m. PST

Cough, cough…Ermmm, and on horses…

Cacique Caribe09 Apr 2010 1:52 p.m. PST

Yes, please! Definitely have some done on horses too:

This show has some ideas on how to make a survivalist camp:

I wonder if any of them can be done in 15mm.

QUESTION:

Does anyone else plan to watch or record the 2-part National Geographic Channel show "Doomsday Preppers" on Tuesday, Feb 7, 2012?

It aired once before a while back, but I missed it.
