That's even less plausible than the Chinese, and the idea of the Chinese conducting a land/air invasion is preposterous. |

North Korea, is it? Right. So
how long has it been going on, then? How long have you been seeing this 'North Korea' for your movie villains? What's wrong with us, all of a sudden, eh? We've been menacing your movies since George Sanders. We've given you decades of villainy. Does that count for nothing? What's this 'North Korea' doing for you that we couldn't? They can't even pronounce "Clarice"! Well, go then. Go to your precious North Korea. See if I care. But you're not taking the detonators, though. Where are my detonators? Tch. It won't last. Next time you want proper villainy, you'll be back. On your knees

Truth be told, this is what political correctness running amok has wrought, we are too afraid to offend anyone to portray them as villains in a film (such as China), so now days it is either aliens, or countries with zero political clout such as North Korea (the recent Homefront game also went this route). *sigh* sometimes I truly do miss the Cold War

I heard this was due to the Chinese being offended by the concept of being the "bad" guys. They do have alot of money see that what they want is done. And that is proof positive that capitalism won
the film industry, such that it is, is not so much concerned with political correctness as they are selling their product. |

Little Big Wars | 13 Jun 2011 5:40 p.m. PST |
There isn't a credible invading nation
the two ocean moat has largely been successful in making invasion a logistical nightmare for anyone except Canada and Mexico. Canada was fairly successful at one point, and the Mexican Empire certainly presented a somewhat credible threat in the Great War era, but invasion by an Asian nation is very nearly science fiction. Of course, that does mean it has a place on the Sci-fi discussion boards, a place where it frequently pops up. |

Astragant, That's why the original film used the premise of years of continued infiltration by Nicaraguan and Cuban agents posing as "immigrants" from Mexico and other countries. They became the vanguard for the invasion. Prologue/Opening Narration: "Soviet Union suffers worst wheat harvest in 55 years
Labor and food riots in Poland. Soviet troops invade
Cuba and Nicaragua reach troop strength goals of 500,000. El Salvador and Honduras fall
Greens Party gains control of West German Parliament. Demands withdrawal of nuclear weapons from European soil
Mexico plunged into revolution
NATO dissolves. United States stands alone." Later on Col. Andy Tanner explains to the Wolverines: "Yeah. That's right. Infiltrators came up illegal from Mexico. Cubans mostly. They managed to infiltrate SAC bases in the Midwest, several down in Texas and wreaked a helluva lot of havoc, I'm here to tell you. They opened up the door down here, and the whole Cuban & Nicaraguan armies come walking right through, rolled right up here through the Great Plains." Dan |

Im not sure that international law lets you refer to those whose lifestyle choices verge on the villanous in these derogatory terms. Crude and barbarous suggests a failure to recognise and celebrate diversity. |

Politically correct or not, these are the figures I would use for the invaders: link But, if the movie producers think they are going to make more money by using a completely unrealistic enemy, they are crazy. I think they are gonna go bankrupt. My guess for an invasion 10-15 years from now . . . As fossil fuels dwindle, an invasion of Alaska and Northern Canada, by either Neo-Soviets or Chinese, to take possession of oil reserves. So sculpting near-future figures in winter gear (US, Russian and/or Chinese) would make lots of sense to me. And gaming scenarios would involve a lot of missions to retake those territories. What's YOUR guess? Who do you think would be desperate enough to attempt an invasion in 10-15 years, and what would be their motive? Or do you think it could never happen so soon? I don't mean an attack. I mean a military invasion, as in taking over large areas of USA states and/or territories. I figured that, if we can discuss these "distant" future events now, and objectively, it should help sculptors anticipate future ranges. Dan TMP link TMP link |

Hmmm, while flipping channels, saw Roseanne Barr on the Joy Behar show (shudder), and behind her was a nice propaganda poster showing Roseanne in communist/socialist gear, wearing a black beret, and holding a gun, if I'm not mistaken. There is a certain amount of prestige in being the villain in a big Hollywood movie. I was in a movie theater in Albania watching a James Bond movie, and when "M" was describing the villain to James Bond, he said he was Albanian. The crowd started cheering. And after that, they only cheered for the villain, not James Bond. |

Update - Just found an entirely different poster for the 2013 independent film "Dragon Day" that some of you with expert photoshop abilities might turn into a post-invasion propaganda poster:

Anyway, I hope you guys can use it for your gaming needs, such as the original premise of the Red Dawn remake, which would have be a Chinese invasion scenario. Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link |
