HFL-106 (Orcs) and HFL-107 (Goblins) seem like possible candidates: link Are there any others (for 28mm figures)? Thanks. CC PS. I guess they could be used to make your own Ape planet inhabitants or as Stalin's ape-human hybrids. |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Dec 2006 9:07 a.m. PST |
They might even work to make your own ape-like inhabitants of Opar (the male ones of course) too. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Dec 2006 9:16 a.m. PST |
With a little work (ok, a lot) these might pass as apes too: link CC |

Dont tell me Royal mail has delivered already? ;0) |

Not yet. But I have plans, you see. (rubbing hands together). I think it is time for "Bananarama" (or whatever that world ends up being called): TMP link CC |

Thought not Dan, Royal mail is NEVER that good :0) you mean the Kingdom of Monc-E |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Dec 2006 9:55 a.m. PST |
They would be pretty advanced though. Maybe E-Monk? :) CC |

just to throw you off the scent, how about genestealer heads for alien types? link |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Dec 2006 10:09 a.m. PST |
Lotsa possibilities, my friend: picture link link But I have a soft-spot for apes. I'll start with those first. Check this one out: picture CC |

Cool is that last piccy a posable doll? I looked at the gor heads I think you would have to flatten the face a bit link |
Cacique Caribe | 05 Dec 2006 10:21 a.m. PST |
The Gor heads would be for other alien (non-ape) types. I think that the Goblins, Orks and others might pass for apes, given a little greenstuff. What I would like to know is if there are additional options out there. I would like as much variety as possible. Humans may all look alike, but apes should never be mistaken for one another. :) CC |

Doesn't that violate some Federal mandate or something
"Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research: human cloning in all its forms, creating or implanting embryos for experiments, creating human-animal hybrids
" -George W. Bush, State of the Union Address, January 31, 2006 rofl
sorry. just couldn't resist. ;-}~ |

Does that make Stalin the Saruman of the 20th century? |

I guess Nic (Eureka) is already working on getting some requests for Stalin hybrids: link CC |

Check out these Ape conversions I am working on: link The photo folder includes sculpted "face plates" attached to Warzone figures (I still need to add hair to the rest of the heads), and a full bare head, a full helmeted head and a few "face plates" I have sculpted to experiment. Let me know what you think. Thanks. CC |

Looking good! I'm impressed by the ape heads. There could be an opening here to sell a few of those to other converters if you can get them cast
.. I'll look forward to seeing the completed figures. Looks like way too much time & effort for me to try though :-( |

Unless you already have the bodies, and strong urge to convert, you can buy suitable figures from Eureka Miniatures: TMP link link |

That's exactly right. And back in early December that was the situation. I had the bodies and the strong urge to convert. This was the result: TMP link CC |

breakmanynecks, Thanks for the URL. As ever with Eureka, they are lovely figures. Sadly, I don't have a strong urge to convert & my tastes run to either VSF or distant future [5150], so probably won't be able to use these chaps. I _could_ try the Ogron figures from Black Tree's DR Who range, but they are expensive & maybe not quite right. In the end,I may have to buy some cheapish SF figures [maybe em4 plastic Troopers] & do some serious head surgery. I don't know about VSF types, though. It's a shame, as my Not the Dr Moreau needs some as servants, henchmen etc. |

CC, Vsry nice work! I've been trying my hand at "Thark" heads. I want to cast some in metal, for my doubled "Kroot" bodies. I've now gone blind in my right eye,(from high BP) and it has made things VERY difficult. What do you use as an armature? As ever, Hairy |
Cacique Caribe | 26 Jul 2007 1:53 p.m. PST |
"What do you use as an armature?" These were my first ones: link For those (above) I used Fortress Figures resin skulls and built up on them, just to make sure I kept the eyes and other features within reasonable limits. I experimented with different facial types. On these other ones here (below), I actually used a push pin with a large head and started adding putty to it: link As I got more and more comfortable with the material, I ended up using armatures less and less. This last one was done with no armature at all, just putty: link CC |

Check out these hybrids: link link Personally, you create a more aggressive and resourceful hybrid, although smaller-framed, if it was human-chimp and not human-gorilla. Chimps are the most aggressive of the great apes. They love to hunt monkeys and have even been known to eat enemy chimps. The aggressive tendencies have now sparked some chimp groups to create weapons, such as spears, to further accomplish their goals: link Gorillas and Orangutans haven't developed hunting weapons because they don't have that aggressive drive, even though they live in similar environments, have monkeys and other vulnerable creatures around and are under similar habitat pressures.
