Off the top of your head, can you think of any example of good images depicting French infantry battalions with fanions prominent in the painting? I ask because it just occurred to me that I can only remember seeing images with the eagle and/or the flag. |

I've seen them mostly on uniform plates. And its a sore subject with me because it would appear only the French and the USA colonials used them. Seems no other country saw any reason for there troops to carry around little flag markers. |
