Cacique Caribe | 28 Mar 2010 3:24 p.m. PST |
Hold on a second. You guys aren't talking about Waterworld, are you? C'mon. That wasn't Australia! That was supposed to be a world wide event, for the most part. I'm talking pirates and settlers along a new coast, the coast all these doomsday prophets are talking about, not on floating islands in sea levels that could never be!!! I'm talking about a new and very, very wet, marshy coastal outback. Like this projection (or the other ones in the links on the first post): life.com/image/72037547 That would turn into an inland sea a lot of what is now low elevation desert: link link maps.com/map.aspx?pid=1310 A bit like a billabong, with marshes all around the inland seas: picture Dan |

Hmm. Dunno. Never heard of Tank Girl. I will look it up. In the meantime . . . Imagine this kind of action in those inland seas (minus the Orcs and other non-humans): ifelix.co.uk/25mm_b11.html Dan |

Well I think there will be both land and water warriors. On land your going to have the highway men or gangs of different degrees, and on the water your going to have pirates to different degrees. All the major cities that you can think of on the current coastal line will be gone on the purposed coastal line all the people in these cities are going to go somewhere ether further inland or their going to go to sea, going inland will have it's own problems which will be the people that are already there and don't want others moving in and taking lane away that's going to be needed for food, let's face it you wouldn't want 200 people moving in on your property and taking food from your family. so I would think many would end up going to the water and make their living that way now what they do for a living will be the issue. Well, I wonder if, instead of the Simpson Desert, it would be called the Simpson Sea, with the other one being something like the South Wales Sea: picture life.com/image/72037547 Dan |

Well hey, according to those maps, if the sea level rises 100ft it will completely wipe out the part of California I grew up in. Go go global warming! |

QUESTION: Any Australians here care to shed some light on what such a sea level rise would do to the interior? Thanks. Dan |

Really? Wow. I wonder if they'll go with the current global warming fashion and say that the glaciers have melted and flooded large areas of the Outback. Dan |

Can do better than tell you
If the link works you can see for yourself. There is currently an inland sea in Queensland and New South Wales and the water is headed for South Australia link |

LOL. If the ice melt prophets are right, just wait until that flooding becomes a permanent body of water. So, get those minis ready for gaming scenarios in the new marshes and islands of the outback!!! Dan |
