Who makes, or will make, stuff like these GZG fittings, but with Egyptian motifs? link Would be fantastic for tunnels, corridors and buildings for Stargate, Pulp, Fantasy, Horror and much, much more! What do you think? Dan |

Crocodile Games just came out with an Egyptian Temple Door -- it is for 25's, but could work for a large temple door for 15's. picture |

That said, a lot of Egyptian architecture is really, really BIG. The 25mm stuff may seem out of scale for 15mm, but in more than a few cases it isn't. |
Cacique Caribe | 03 Feb 2010 3:38 p.m. PST |
Well, what about for 1 or 1.25 inch tall tunnels/corridors then? Dan |
J Womack 94 | 04 Feb 2010 9:36 a.m. PST |
Strangely enough, Dan, I just bought some RTV for the first time, and thought I would try to make up some windows and doorways and such for easy building making. I can try my hand at an Egyptian-style door as well. I'll be doing both 25 and 15mm, by the way, and if I like what I see, I'll post them for comments. Then, if I get good comments, I may even produce for sale. Who knows? Maybe one part of my hobby can help pay for some of the other parts. |

Wow! That is awesome. What are you going to start with? Anything we can help with? Dan |
Brummie Lad | 04 Feb 2010 3:33 p.m. PST |
I bought a 'diy' kit of an Egyptian temple entrance off ebay recently. It's a 28mm model, but as mentioned above, if you look at images of Egyptian architecture with 'real' people next to it, it is HUGE, so using larger scale models wont look too out of place. Although, I'm using GZG's SG figures, which are closer to 20mm than 15mm, so that helps a little! :-) |
Cacique Caribe | 13 Mar 2010 3:33 a.m. PST |
Blummie Lad, Agreed. Above ground, it seemed like they really liked height. Whoever did this terrain also understood that: picture However, I would prefer to start with the underground passages. It would be great to have doors/entrances and wall decor for low ceiling tunnels, like here: picture picture link picture picture picture link picture picture picture picture picture I know that a lot of the decoration was done with paint. But it would be great to have that done with a shallow sculpted relief instead. Thanks. Dan |

Didn't Artslave or Alxbates also scratch-build a really nice Egyptian tomb corridor complex a while back, for either their Gods of Aegyptus or Stargate games? I can't seem to find those links now and I really need some serious inspiration for corridors. I know that, if I put my mind to it, I can do the outside of the tombs somewhat like this: picture But that's not the problem. My problem is the corridors themselves. I don't even know where to begin with such a scratch-built corridor project!!! Thanks. Dan |

CC – I don't do anything in 15mm, but here are some links to my tomb work, as well as tomb terrain built by other people: link The Usborne paper Egyptian temple is priceless – perfect for all sorts of Egyptian terrain. link link Here's some of Matakishi's work: link And of course there are the Hirst Arts Egyptian dungeons, too: link link A lot of links there CC, but hopefully this should help! -Alex |

Alex, That Egyptian Maze looks perfect!!! The first and last links were precisely what I was after. Now, off to put some thoughts on graph paper. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Dan PS. The second and fifth links did not work. Kept getting an error message. |

@Alxbates those pics are GREAT! Gives me some ideas too! but I'm going to shot for more of an alien type background. |

Huh
links work for me
they're user galleries at the Crocodile Games site. Maybe you can't view them unless you're a registered member of the site (forum). For as much oddball Egyptian stuff as you're interested in, CC, you, should join the Crocodile Games site! Here's a link to the Usborne Temple that's so useful: link I'm glad you like my little tomb, I think it's one of the best terrain pieces I've ever built. -Alex |

"I'm glad you like my little tomb, I think it's one of the best terrain pieces I've ever built." I absolutely love it! Hope mine turns out half as nice as yours. Thanks so much, Alex. Dan PS. This is a beauty, though most decorations seem to have been painted and not carved: picture |

Here are some items that could be used to decorate: TMP link TMP link However, as nice as those goodies are . . . They really don't satisfy the need for Egyptian doors and columns, for low ceiling tunnels and corridors (max height about 30mm) in 15mm gaming. Thanks. Dan |

Hi Dan :) He is hard at work on 3D rendered terrain and fittings. I expect to get some images possibly next week but in the meantime I saw some images of another project in his capable hands [not a terrain piece]: picture picture 3D printing is the way to go :D Thanks Piotr |

Here are some examples of what I think is needed for 15mm Egyptian tomb and building fittings, though the examples shown here are for 28mm: link link link link link The best thing to start with would be bits that people could use for Egyptian-themed tombs and corridors (Victorian, Pulp or SF). With that in mind, a maximum height would need to be decided upon for any of the gates or columns (perhaps no higher than twice or 2.5 times the height of a based 15mm figure?) If that takes off, then taller fittings for above-ground structures would be next. Lots of possibilities there! Let me know what you think. Dan |

Pole: I want one of those rockets! MAN! Those are cool. What size/scale are they? |
Cacique Caribe | 09 Apr 2011 10:01 p.m. PST |
The height of these low walls for 28mm would be about right as tomb walls for 15mm, right? link The only problem would be that the carvings on them are already too big for 28mm, so would be gigantic for 15mm, right? Dan |
Cacique Caribe | 10 Apr 2011 9:45 p.m. PST |
Piotr, Here are some additional thoughts on maximum height of corridors, but could also be applied to columns, gates and fittings: TMP link Dan |

I think I have the walls figured out. It's the doors, columns, steps, etc. that would take a whole lot more time and effort to make. In the meantime . . . Please, let me know what you think of these two crazy attempts at making an embossing roller for the tomb corridors: link TMP link The two bottom strips have a very light wash with black acrylic paint, to bring out the detail of the light impressions a bit more. For this experiment, the strips are just one inch wide and 6 inches long. However, the tool on the right can be adjusted for a wider strip. Thanks, Dan |
