Either for Egytian or Alien tomb complex corridors …

Without looking too unrealistic, what would you say is the optimal corridor width and height, that would alloy the manual movement of your individual figures?

Thanks,

Dan

You might want to hold off on making something I recieved an email from Litko they are still planning on producing a dungeon variant of 15 mm Mini Corridor.

CPT Jake10 Apr 2011 3:23 p.m. PST

It would seem to be dependant on your basing.

For me, most of my 15mm figures are based on washers which are just over half an inch in diameter, so a 1.25 inch wide corridor would allow two figures to be next to each other. As for height, I would go with about an inch I think.

I would something similar to CPT Jake as my figs are either on 1/2" squares or 1/2" washers. Something just over 1" would work very well for them.

Agreed, allow two minis side-by-side, plus a little wiggle room. Maybe up to 4 minis wide in major corridors.

Height: Mini plus a bit. You want to be able to reach in easily, and high walls interfere with that.

actually height should be no more than 1/2 -3/4 ". when you get more complex and deep dungeons, the figs get hard to see and move.

I like 30 mm height….just me but allows for large creatures

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on you.

If most of your 15mm figures are based on pennies or other 3/4" diameter items, you might want to go as wide as 1.5" for the corridors, and not more than an inch deep.

Cacique Caribe11 Apr 2011 12:01 p.m. PST

So, inch-high walls it is! And wide enough for 2.5 figure bases then.

You guys are awesome.

Thanks,

Dan

Ok guys,

Please, let me know what you think of these two crazy attempts at making an embossing roller for the tomb corridors:

The two bottom strips have a very light wash with black acrylic paint, to bring out the detail of the light impressions a bit more.

For this experiment, the strips are just one inch wide and 6 inches long. However, the tool on the right can be adjusted for a wider strip.

Thanks,

Dan

Pretty cool Dan.

Thanks!!!

For the one on the right, I used the following:

- One 2-inch long machine screw (size 8, with 32 threads)
- Nine nuts (size 8, with 32 threads), though you only really need 7 of them. The ones in the middle need to be same outer diameter.
- Two wide-hole plastic beads with grooved edges*
- Two 1/8" by 1" washers
- Four small washers (size 6)*

Hope that helps, if anyone is trying to duplicate it.

Dan
* The two plastic beads and the four small washers were a really tight squeeze. Took a while to work them in.

Well now…. That is an idea.

Cacique Caribe13 Apr 2011 2:46 p.m. PST

LOL.

Every once in a blue moon, I get the occasional idea or two. They may not always work, but they are ideas. :)

QUESTION:

How about the width of the doors?

Even if I increased the maximum height of the corridor walls to an incredible 40mm, if I made them to the proper proportions the actual walking area will only allow one person at a time:

Thanks,

PS. I'm ready to jam to the appropriate music while I work on this project:

Not tall at all, from the looks of this:

Would walls cast from these "Iceblox" be too low for 15mm?

Don't know Dan, none of the sites behind the pictures give dimensions…

Grand Duke Natokina16 Sep 2011 2:14 p.m. PST

Dan,
Ck New Grange in Ireland. Or the Tholos tombs at Mycenae.
If you're carrying a coffin on the shoulders of 6 guys, your corridor should be about 8 feet wide and at least that high, even taking into account the height difference between ancient peoples and us.

Cacique Caribe16 Sep 2011 4:30 p.m. PST

Hmm. Seems like those "Iceblox" aren't available anywhere!

Go figure. I get excited over stuff no one carries.

Lee,

Thanks so much! I went ahead and emailed them to see if they would sell me a couple of individual trays or if they could point me towards one of their retailers.

Dan

Cacique Caribe20 Sep 2011 7:54 a.m. PST

Guys,

Lee was right, they won't sell anyone anything less than 150 at a time.

I was hoping they could point me to one of the people who have bought from them, so I could reach out to them, but no dice. :(

Mako1120 Sep 2011 3:49 p.m. PST

150 for $8.20 USD seems very reasonable to me.

Go ahead and splurge!

;-)

Here's what a 22mm wall looks like next to a 15mm figure:
