I really like what Stepman3 did here with the Rebel Minis "Civilian Contractors":

Think about it. After most people run out of fuel, horses will be the way to go. Just like in "The Postman".

Now, imagine lots of 15mm figures done just like that, for those who do not want to do conversions.

What do you guys think? Is there a need for 15mm Post Apocalyptic survivors on horses!!!

Peter Pig's cowboys would be an easy conversion, I'd think. You'll probably want to do some weapon swaps as well, but the basic "dude on a horse" is there.

Look at all the pretty horsies:

Exactly! :)

So, what do you think, Mark?

Apocalyptic survivors on horses

The models would be cool but I would think if they ever got hungry – the horses may have a problem…

evil grin

Cacique Caribe14 Aug 2009 5:01 p.m. PST

LOL. It sure would put a new definition to the term "fast food".

Steve Hazuka15 Aug 2009 5:33 a.m. PST

I was thinking of using ACW or Spanish American War figures for that too. Using the western style hats never goes out of fashion with a revolver and 30-30 carbine looks the same as it did 90 years ago.

Steve Hazuka15 Aug 2009 5:35 a.m. PST

And in some packs if you get duplicates of figures you can do mounted and dismounted figures.

Tgunner15 Aug 2009 6:24 a.m. PST

Maybe a request to Eureka?

Soldat15 Aug 2009 7:29 a.m. PST

Did someone say Zardoz?

Brutorz Bill15 Aug 2009 8:59 a.m. PST

I'd love to see some P.A. riders in 15mm!
There are some 28mm Zardoz minis out there, maybe the company can be convinced to also do them in 15mm?

Pole Bitwy PL15 Aug 2009 9:41 a.m. PST

Hey CC, what an excellent idea ! Survivors cavalry for World Wide Water :D

Cacique Caribe17 Aug 2009 7:29 p.m. PST

Guys,

Look at this photo, also by Stepman3:

picture

I wonder if those Peter Pig Range 17 "Professionals" – item "58. Professional Cavalry (brimmed hat)" – are small figures (like the Hardened Militia), or if they are more larger figures, like their USMC figures:

peterpig.co.uk/range17.htm

Does anyone know?

CC

Stepman318 Aug 2009 6:52 a.m. PST

Oh,Oh, I know, I know…pick me , pick me. The Professionals are a "tad" smaller by approx. 2-3mm. It really doesn't show on a crowded game board. But they are smaller. They are also smaller then the Rebal Miniatures. WHY CAN'T THEY GET IT RIGHT?

Cacique Caribe18 Aug 2009 10:18 a.m. PST

Shucks. I was hoping that particular set was compatible.

Stepman3, thank you so much! You rock!

CC

Stepman318 Aug 2009 11:34 a.m. PST

No really, YOU ARE, MY MUSE…

Pole Bitwy PL18 Aug 2009 12:22 p.m. PST

ROTFL :D

I've been called many things, never that!

I have it from a good authority that we will soon be hearing about a set of 15mm PA horsemen for us!

I can't wait.

I already have a few terrain obstacles awaiting them:

And a potential base of operations:

Obrooks25 Aug 2009 2:10 p.m. PST

Nah what you need is camels of llamas! (or a hybrid of the two which does exist!)

Brutorz Bill25 Aug 2009 2:17 p.m. PST

Something like this in 15mm would be cool!

auction

CC, I'm hopeful about your "contact". I'd love to have some PA Cavalry.

Stepman325 Aug 2009 2:32 p.m. PST

Cacique Caribe, Thats not fair… Do give us a bit more. I think if I drill into my finger one more time making anymore riders, it'll fall off….

Cacique Caribe26 Aug 2009 7:32 a.m. PST

That's all I dare say at the moment. As it is, I'm not sure if I was supposed to share that with ya'll in the first place!!! :)

Imagine survivors like these on horseback:

On this other thread, Dr. Mathias suggests the Postman "Holnist" look:

Here's the thread:

It would work perfectly for those who want to do non-PA SF as well as for those who do PA SF.

The "Tallarn" look (minus the ridiculous mega weapons) wouldn't be bad either, and could be used for PA and non-PA SF:

Cacique Caribe11 Dec 2009 3:28 a.m. PST

Would be great if they were the same figures as these contractors, mercenaries, survivalists:

In other words, a version on foot and another one on horse.

I'll chime in again… Survivors on horseback, mounted and dismounted…

Stepman302 Feb 2010 9:48 a.m. PST

Bringing this topic back to light. If you build it…we will buy it.

Altius02 Feb 2010 10:36 a.m. PST

Peter Pig has some cavalry in their modern African wars range. I tried but I couldn't find a photo, but they are very nice figures. They have modern weapons and dress, and I believe they have boonie hats, if I remember correctly. However, PP also has a wide variety of heads, with and without headgear, and it's pretty easy to do a headswap.

Dave Crowell02 Feb 2010 1:07 p.m. PST

15mm llamas just so happen to be available….

Stepman302 Feb 2010 8:46 p.m. PST

I have the Peter Pig ones, while very nice sculpts they tend to be on the smaller side and not as "civilian" lookin' as I wish.

Cacique Caribe09 Mar 2010 12:46 a.m. PST

Any new developments toward this?

Dan

Cacique Caribe26 Mar 2010 3:38 a.m. PST

Who knows? They might be able to outrun some Russian helicopters . . .

I really hope this happens too (fingers crossed, all ten of them).

Farstar31 Mar 2010 11:43 a.m. PST

Post Apoc also calls for at least one "that ain't a horse" option.

Cacique Caribe31 Mar 2010 12:42 p.m. PST

LOL

Giddy Up…wheres the 15mm horses and riders?

Now, how about some that look somewhat "uniform", as if they were part of a unit trying to restore law and order, or trying to carve out a new organized domain?
