A picture is worth a thousand words in any review, right?

Ok guys. Then let's use this thread as a single and on-going repository of links to comparison photos floating around everywhere.

I'll start with these old and new favorites of mine . . .

JRacel:
link

Dropship Horizon:

Critical Mass Games:

My own humble contribution:
link

My challenge to you is to add to this thread any and all links to comparison photos you know of. For maximum benefit to all, make sure the photo collection has a minimum of 2 or 3 manufacturers represented in the photos.

So, how about it? Your fellow gamers and collectors will thank you for it.

I plan to update the comparison pictures later this weekend. Just keep bugging me until I do it. Also let me know what you want compared and if I can accommodate you I will.

You will find some pictures of Spuggs, Rebel Minis Grays and GZG New Israelis along with some Old Crow Hammer Slammers Tanks and a few APCs in the pictures I did with the 28mm Khurasan Aranchnians.
Link: link

These battle pictures have Rebel Contractors, GZG Stargate, GZG New Israelis, 15mm.co.uk Atonmatons, Orks from The Scene, Old Crow APCs, GZG building parts on the meat container buildings and defensive walls by War Torn Worlds. (Desert mat by theterrainguy.com )

Guys,

As you know, I was always a big fan of WeeToySoldiers.com:

link

Unfortunately, the site is no longer up and running, which is a great loss for those of us who wanted the latest side-by-side comparison photos of 28mm figures.

Well, during these last few months, as I started collecting 15mm figures, I began to ask myself why not have something like it set up for 15mm side-by-side comparison photos!

This is the only idea I could come up with, as it would allow the input to be a group effort and not up to any one single individual.

A lot of times I like to know how an unfamiliar range looks right next to one that I already have. I've noticed that many ask the same type of questions.

So, I hope this works for you guys, until someone comes up with something newer, better and long lasting.

This thread got me thinking – what about a wiki just for wargamers that can contain this type of information, plus anything else wargame related such as suppliers, rules, scenery, forums, blogs, periods of interest etc?

In the event that anyone is interested in this idea and would like to add to it, please go to link

CC – sorry for a bit of a hijack, but I figured a wiki could be a great place to store the info you want.

I added a few more shots as this encouraged me to take a few more photos. Same link.

That is fantastic, Ilyrric. I didn't know that the Aphids were so close to the Spugs in height.

Thanks.

JRacel16 Aug 2009 4:14 p.m. PST

As promised, I updated my comparisons pictures with some new stuff. I have a lot more (especially GZG forces), but never enough time to get everything out and photographed.

You never cease to amaze. Thanks so much for those fantastic pictures!

This thread is just getting better and better.

As a note, I added a number of comparison pictures including the 1/87 scale versions of the Heavy Gear Mecha produced in the early to mid 90's by RAFM for Dream Pod 9. These tend to work very well for 155mm warmachines. The mecha show are of the large and very large sizes, since I did not have any standard or small gears assembled. Please not that the 2nd and 3rd (current) editions of Heavy Gear use 1/144 mechs that are MUCH smaller than these so make sure you are buying the bigger RAFM produced versions for use with your 15mm stuff.

Hopefully these will help answer some questions some of you had about the Heavy Gear minis recently. The pictures are added to the 15mm scale comparison folder: link

I can't seem to open any links with comparison photos of the Khurasan Marines:

This aimed at me CC? I added a few in the pictures with the Heavy Gear stuff, but need to do some more with just other 15mm guys. I will see if I can do that this weekend. You might bug me aboout it. I don't have the Khurasan Marines, so can't help with those. I also need to add Old Crow troops and various vehicles. So much to do and no time.

Eli Arndt20 Aug 2009 10:35 a.m. PST

Anybody have a good comparison of various models from the current Heavy Gear line along side 15mm figs. From what I have seen, only the biggest of the HG minis seem okay to have a pilot inside of them.

I will add this to my growing list of things to do. The 1/144 stuff works well as large robots or android units, but even the largest of them would be hard to fit a 15mm huminoid inside. The waist is the major issue. You guys are going to keep me taking pictures rather than getting my painting done. grin

As I have stated before, bug me via PM if you think I need some prodding to get it done.

LOL. But think of what you are doing for the gaming community, not to mention the economy!!!

JRacel23 Aug 2009 12:26 p.m. PST

I have added a lot more Heavy Gear Pictures as well as some vehicles and useful Urban War minis. The new pictures include some of the Critical Mass Games minis that came int he mail yesterday (very nice minis). I will have to do more of these in the future, but a little burned out on doing it today. I put together far to many gears and Urban War minis for the pictures yesterday . . . . . .

Link: link

If anyone wants some of the old 1/87 Heavy Gears, Mark Shu has some for sale. For the love of all that is holy, please buy what is left so I can't. I am on my third order and my wife is not happy with me (a little better since I assembled 10 of them yesterday, but not happy that I spent all day working on them . . . . ). Contact him about what you need since he has not updated the list since my last order. Hrothgar the Smelly has also helped deplete the supply.

I've added some Splintered Light Minis. Nothing that Jeff hasn't already done. Hail Jeff! Altough there are some fantasy minis from SLM. Also the second post has some vehicles; GZG, Matchbox and an Infinity Drone.

I was wondering about the scale of those Khurasan Marines, they look fine for my purposes!

Cacique Caribe31 Aug 2009 8:56 a.m. PST

RR,

I haven't seen that many comparison shots of the Khurasan Marines either. Not enough to get a sense of how they'd look next to figures I already have.

Maybe Jeff, Mark or another kind soul will help out with that. (hint, hint) :)

Gave blood last week CC!

Planned, but give us a break! 11 blog updates in a single weekend not enough?

You HAVE BEEN busy, my man!

So, just keep it in mind for later.

Thanks for all your hard work. You are definitely a "facilitator" when it comes to our addiction to minis.

CC

Brutorz Bill31 Aug 2009 12:32 p.m. PST

Ditto what CC said. Mark I really appreciate all your work!

JRacel03 Sep 2009 4:58 p.m. PST

Sorry, I don't have the Khurasan Marines and work is killing me so I have not had any time to do pictures or anything else (including sleep) . . . . Maybe this weekend.

To those of you who take the time to photograph and post these pics, Thank You. Triathlete, great blog.

If anyone has a picture of a Peter Pig sci-fi "security trooper", I would love to see one before buying.

Hey, i haven't had the chance to check this thread lately and so i did just now. Lots of very useful pics there, and nice paint jobs! And it's always a hoot to see people blogging about your models, especially when they like them of course!

Just one note to davebill, i hope i did not mislead you on the space demon mould issue. Yes, the little bit of flash underneath them is due to the pose -- it's quite dynamic on most of them and the base is large too which explains it. I asked for the sculptor to give them great action poses, though, so if anyone was overambitious, it was me, not him!

The bad part is that there are twice that many more demons still in hiding and waiting for a little more color before coming out to play! grin No idea what I was thinking, but it will take a sizable force to fight the demon hordes, and that is before they get reinforcements since Khurasan has plans for two more types . . . .

MiniatureReview03 Oct 2009 8:49 p.m. PST

Fantastic paint jobs. Mine are still in metal form. I can not decide how to paint them up yet.
