How do these sets compare to each other in size and detail?

Irregular's US Infantry:

Rebel Minis' Contractors:

Basically, I'm curious to know if the Irregular figures in caps of that range (no helmets) could mix with my Rebel Minis Contractors and pass as additional security contractors or even as PA survivors.

I tried supplementing my Rebel Contractors with Peter Pig hardened militia figures with caps, but the PP were way too tiny. Seems odd, when one looks at how some of the PP figures (in this case their US Marines) do seem to match up well in height: picture

The QRF Rangers in caps look nice next to the Contractors:

But I'm still looking for more variety (poses).

Thanks for any observations you might share with me.

No, if Rebel or QRF could be convinced to make more poses with caps . . .

Maybe I shouldn't have even asked the question about the Irregular figures.

I was hoping all the figures in caps were part of a combined set or two. Unfortunately, it looks like for me to get one or two of each type, I'll have to by several packs of identical poses.

PS. I hope I'm wrong in reading what's on their site.

Figures can be ordered individually from Irregular themselves and in the past I have requested specific variants and they have been happy to oblige.

Whilst not of any use now this may be of use later:

CC You have the QRF Rangers in caps – lovely yes? Do not entertain the Irregular minis. You will be disappointed.

Does that mean I now have to show you the new QRF americans with M4, currently in helmets, but with caps to come…

Of course, Geoff!!!

We need more of those in caps, like your fantastic rangers set.

And what freaking idjit is running around in the sandbox without his brain bucket on?

His 1SGT will tear him an new one!

Right on, LitS! LOL

"And what freaking idjit is running around in the sandbox without his brain bucket on?"

Who?

This is who: "as additional security contractors or even as PA survivors."

We generally suffer from the usual conflict between what happens in reality, and what wargamers want to have on the table. Wargamers like their Paras in berets and their Rangers in caps ;-)

Incidently, I did just add one pack of Patrolling Brits in berets, ideal for use as 'non-sandbox, hearts and minds, pre-engagement' Paras…

LOL

Ok guys, when on the first post I mentioned figures to use "as additional security contractors or even as PA survivors", THIS is what I meant . . .

More of THAT. I'm not looking for just armed civilians though. I am looking for figures that could be used as mercenaries, trained corporate security, well armed ex-military PA survivors, etc., but not look too much like regular troops, if that makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the ones Rebel Minis does:

I wish we had a dozen more variants of them, in all sorts of cool poses.

I'm so sorry if I struck a nerve. I just didn't think that asking for figures of some troops without helmets would bug you guys so much! :)

I think that the QRF "Rangers in Caps" fit in beautifully, in size and general look, as security personnel augmentees:

link

And I wouldn't expect each member of those teams to all have the same gear.

I just would like to know what other compatible figures are out there that I could use to augment the team and add more poses to the mix.

So, now that I've scratched the Irregulars in caps and the PP hardened militia off my list . . .

Aside from my Rebel "Contractors" and QRF "Rangers in Caps", are there any other suitable options, of the right size, look and quality?

Seems odd, when one looks at how some of the PP figures (in this case their US Marines) do seem to match up well in height:

Nah! Shock horror, there is variation between Peter Pig's ranges. The Marines are taller and stockier and no, it's NOT their gear.

Peter Pig marines are about 15mm sole to eye, or 16-16.5mm overall (at least, the ones in front of me are)… or about the same size as the greens on US with M4s (currently in helmets, but with caps to follow) that I also have in front of me. ;-)

Dropship Horizon03 Nov 2009 3:23 p.m. PST

Not the best comparison pics – but I had it to hand. link

You can see that whilst the height is the same as the Pig Israeli, the bulk is different – head and helmet are broader.

I'll post a pic of the US Marines vs other AK47, Rebel, Irregular and QRF Modern US.

Cheers

Thanks for that comparison pic!
