What terrain features did you add to the board? What buildings? What figures? What rules? Any pics? Thanks. CC TMP link |

I saw the first picture you link to an thought how much the cliff face looked like cork in texture and color. Some time in the near future (no pun intended) I will start my Mars terrain and may even use cork as a rough hill material. The ground color will be mid to dark brown with rusty highlights as the true-color pics of Mars are more yellow ochre with iron oxide dust than a deep or pure rust red. The terrain will be semi-terraformed to go with my battle for Mars campaign (Summer of 2010). I'll be using 18mm Black hat Martians with Peter Pig Brits and my own rules. |

Awhile back I had considered making a Mars landscape. I had considered producing a version as descibed in "The Sands of Mars" by Arthur C. Clarke. It would have been based on photos from the various landers, mildly terraformed, with native Martian vegitation and some critters such as "sqeak" from the book. Blue foam would have been my choice for shaping the terrain, and I have considered "orangish" flock from several sources. I sold off the more red colored samples, but two of the softer shades that I thought I might use in the mix were Timberline Scenery Co. #325 Tumbleweed Tan, and AMSI #10491 Straw. I eventually opted to make some of the stone formations at Goblin Valley Utah, and figure that eventually I will make modular terrain panels using the above flock. |

IrishSerb, You are way too modest. That Goblin Valley terrain of yours is absolutely amazing!!! link Very Tatooine-like: picture Plus, I think that Goblin Valley was one of the locations where they filmed "Galaxy Quest". CC |

QUESTION: Would the greenish-grey dust seen on the photos of Mars' surface be best duplicated as an underlying base color (part of the priming) or as part of the dry brush? Thanks. CC |

Check out this illustration: picture And this other one too: picture I guess that having a landing pad this close to the buildings is not very practical on dusty Mars, is it? I have a feeling that cleaning windows is going to be a big job over there, don't you think? link CC link link |
