Bear with me on this . . . I might have had too much coffee this morning. Think of the SST light armor troopers as troops of a separatist Martian colony in a semi-terraformed Mars, while the HLBS future warriors (bottom 4 pack in second link) are Earth troops sent to quell the movement! picture hlbs.co.uk/type.php?id=19 Both sets seem to be on the large side. Does anyone know if they are compatible. I already have the SST light armored troops. CC PS. MrWigglesworth suggested the HLBS figures on a different thread: TMP link |
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jan 2007 8:04 a.m. PST |
The Earthers, of course, would not be accustomed to the thinner atmosphere and are the ones wearing full helmets. CC |
Dewbakuk | 31 Jan 2007 9:04 a.m. PST |
The HLBS figs, while great, are 1/48th scale and will tower over your other stuff, even the larger stuff like Mongoose. |
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jan 2007 9:21 a.m. PST |
That sucks!!! But thanks for the tip. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jan 2007 9:28 a.m. PST |
Maybe I will have to keep my SST on the shelf a bit longer and use figures closer to 28mm, like my Pig Iron for Earth forces and something else for the Separatists. CC |
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jan 2007 9:31 a.m. PST |
By the way, what sort of camo design do you guys suggest for my Pig Iron infantry on this Martian campaign? CC |

Use SST LAMI as the Seps, and Regular MI as the Earthers. The MI are already in better kit and sealed suits – or something close to it. Heck, you've already got rules in SST for that sort of thing, isn't there a Rogue Colony army list somewhere? |
Dewbakuk | 31 Jan 2007 11:01 a.m. PST |
I really like the World Works stuff, never going to use it though. I tried paper scenery once and found it really fiddly to assemble, I'd rather make proper stuff. Also, given the cost of ink cartridges and decent paper, I'm not convinced of any saving either. Hopefully one of the people I game with will fall in love with it, althought I doubt it, most of them use my stuff. |

NVDoyle, Bear with me, my friend. I am just barely familiar with their figures (other than the light armored infantry from the film). Are the "regular MI" you speak of the same as the "CAP" troopers? link CC |
Goldwyrm | 31 Jan 2007 12:45 p.m. PST |
Yes, regular MI = CAP troopers. And as nvdoyle mentions, there is a rogue colony army list for SST in one of the Signs&Portents magazines that are free downloads from the Mongoose website. |
Goldwyrm | 31 Jan 2007 12:50 p.m. PST |
Found it: link #38 "Rebel Colony Army List Fed up with fighting alien menaces? Now you can have an excuse to shoot your fellow humans with this new army list from Matthew Sprange." |

Aha, my plan to get Goldwyrm to do my bidding is working
|
Cacique Caribe | 31 Jan 2007 5:29 p.m. PST |
LOL. NVDoyle, I didn't know you could do that. I'll have to be more careful from now on. :) CC |

Hey, I don't mind getting manipulated into providing useful information for the greater good. Coincidental to this topic, a recent auction of Gangs of Mega-City One arrived in the mail today. Now I have more armed meat puppet rebels for something akin to what CC is working on, but I was thinking something more along the lines of Total Recall. "Quaaaiidd
start the reactor.." |

Goldwyrm, These are also going to be giving the Earthers a warm reception on Mars: link CC |

CC, Yes, They'll go really well. I just recently got 13001 and 13004 from Discount Hobby. Warped minds think alike. :-) |

MORNING CC AND ALL! i would recommend going with the MONGOOSE SST light infantry for MARTIAN SEPERATISTS, and go for the MONGOOSE SST MI/CAP TROOPERS for the EARTH FORCES. the plastic and metal M4powersuit troopers are very nice choices for this role. alternately, y'all could go for v2 SHOCKFORCE corporate troopers, or a mix of these and SST light infantry for the MARTIAN soldiers. the two lines work very well together, and the poor SST smucks actually get to lay their hands on repeating GL, light plasma guns, light flamers, and RPGs to bolster their firepower. the mix also provides you with a refreshing variety of soldier poses, too.
the MAMMOTH VOID v1 VIRIDIAN light infantry will alos fit in quite well with the above soldier choices, and really provide you with a wide variety of soldier types.
the ever useful 40K plastic CADIAN squaddies are also very useful for light infantry types, although a tad hefty when compared with SST MI wearing M4 powersuits.
i love the MARS STATION card terrain, and hope to get some for myself this year. DAWGIE |

Just so you know, CC, the Mongoose figs are going to tower over the Void figs. |

Mars Separatist Capitulate! Earth cuts off their Spam shipments and within a year Mars gives up. In fact Earth sees its first surplus budget in 39 years when they don't have to support the Martian boondoggle. |

Hmmm I like the Matakashi colony buildings, and I have always fancied building a SST camp like the advance base in the film. My Mars plan (long way in the future) is to use GW Cadians with adapted heads, gas masks and pith helmets etc for earth regulars. Never found the right enemies for them yet though, although deperatists are likely to be Necromunda figs and various other types. |
tnjrp | 31 Dec 2008 4:47 a.m. PST |
I build a similar scenario into the pseudobackground of my AT-43 inspired lists for Defiance: Vital Ground
Earth-lead PDF (based off of AT-43 UNA) see themselves as protectors of humanity from itself and the alien alike, while the (predominantly) Martian PLA (The Red Blok) see themselves as freedom fighters out to lift up the yoke of the oligargs of Earth. Contrariwise, PDF thinks of PLA as little more than terrorists and PLA thinks of PDF as corporate goons. No suprise there, obviously. |
