What are your best recommendations for cheap MDF 28mm Old West buildings? I really like ttcombat – but their selection is limited in western genre.

I'm looking for USA dealers with reasonable shipping costs. And yes, I've already hunted on Google/Amazon/eBay.

This guy has some in an ebay store US based

auction

You can google 28mm old west buildings/terrain. Looks like you may be able to find stuff on etsy as well. Its going to be a crap shoot. The only manufacturer I know of in the US is Things From the Basement. They do not have old west. The old 4 Ground range may turn up somewhere?

You might try checking Etsy too, since they sometimes have affordable terrain.

Lots of SciFi and Star Wars stuff there, so I imagine you can probably find old west buildings too.

Things from the Basement has some, as does Dad and Son Gaming, and Knuckleduster has some nice ones in their Gunfighters Ball Range.
It all depends on what you mean by "Cheap/affordable"…
That was one of the killers for me and 4grounds beautiful stuff.

Warbases do a great range of buildings.

They will do their best on postage rates to the States.

I use the 15mm versions for AWI and Samurai gaming – but above link is to their 28mm line – find them easy to deal with and good communications

And the winner is: Warbases

Large order placed :)

Thanks for all the input.

I was going to suggest print and play Whitewash City from Wargame Vault…..

Empires at War from the UK has a great line of Western Buildings.

They have the High Chaparral house, guard not included. But you'll need to get one to keep an eye out for Apaches and Outlaws.

This may be a little late since you have already made your purchase, but Game Crafters (out of Nashville) have a good lot of laser items in many scales and periods for you. Here is a direct link to their 28mm Western lists: link

Not affiliated with them other than being a happy customer over the years.

I already had a good sized order in with Sarissa Precision. Have not received it yet, but looking forward to them, as they are very reasonable.

I'll be checking out all the other recommendations. I mean, it's not as if the town won't keep expanding.

Most Old West combat occurs in the streets.

Suggestion: Don't spend a lot of money for buildings where you can lift the roof and place miniatures inside. Instead, get a wooden breakfast serving tray, the kind with handles/grips on each end. Put your room furnishings (bank, jail, saloon, etc.) inside this.

I built an entire Wild West town last year (2019).

Start with Plast Craft. angrypiper.com/?p=739

Google "Plast Craft 28mm wild west buildings" until you have purchased 5-6 buildings as your base set.

Then, Google "28mm wild west buildings pdf". Print these out and spray glue them on poster board or cardboard. Cut them out and glue them together. Spray paint them and "weather" them and they look pretty good. Lightweight too. erichotz.com/whitewash.html

I didn't need a large, expensive, building with an interior playing surface. 95% of combat takes place in the street outside the bank. For the bank interior, I went to Goodwill thrift store and found a wooden "breakfast serving tray". This is about 20 inches by 14 inches and 2 inches deep with handles at each end.

When the players enter the bank, simply move all the miniatures, desks, "cashier/teller's cage", and safe, inside the bank and play it out inside the breakfast serving tray/interior of bank.

I thought players would wander around the town and explore it before hitting the bank. Nope, most of the time they went straight to the bank and immediately robbed it. Then they tried to steal horses. They got shot to pieces by the law, the citizens, and the Vigilante Committee.

Here is a pretty cool saloon build:

Lastly, you need a train. Just before and after Christmas watch stores for a railroad train set that is perfect for 28mm wild west town. They are mentioned here and are still in production in 2019.

Great list.

Add this one to it; link

I really enjoyed that last link. And the old plastic train set was a great idea. I found one for around $15. USD
