Its twoo, its twoo! I tried to get these made for 2 years at Wargames Factory to no avail! These will fill a great niche in SF 15mm. They look terrific too! Cant wait to get these. The funny thing is, I was about to start painting another set of 15mm Sci-Fi minis as Iranians this week. Now I dont have to. Im sure like all Khurasan sets, support weapons and command sets will follow some time later. Many have argued in the past near-future Arab troops would look no different from NF European troops. I think you can clearly see a difference and a unique mini line here. Have a look at the basic pack:

It occurs to me too that these have a great wealthy of potential other than "Middle East" SF troops. As stated on DH, they could be British in an arid region. I also see them as fantastic looking SF/NF African troops. No reason we cant have Neo-Sovs or Chinese fighting in Chad or the Sudan against the locals! |

Spartan, that second batch shows the sniper, who has the Desert Viper sniper rifle, one of the few weapons used by the RPK forces not supplied to them by Nova Respublik. The RPK forces did not like the Nova sniper rifle as it was not sufficiently accurate at extremely long ranges, and as it is an energy weapon has a greater heat signature that a KE rifle, so they use instead the superb Desert Viper, one of the best sniper rifles in known space. Opponents have said that one Raathist sniper with a Desert Viper is worth a company of RPK infantry, and can deal out more destruction. The RPK is the Raathist Party of Kym, a planet settled by people from the Middle East and North Africa, and conquered by Neo-Mongol refugees fleeing a Soriog invasion about 300 years ago. Using Nova Respublik aid the "native" Arabo-African population overthrew the Neo-Mongol Khanate about 60 years ago and put in place a regime that is purportedly and superficially socialist but is in fact a thinly veiled cult of personality around the President of the Republic, Fulq-al-Naara, whose Raathist Party rules through force and intimidation, coupled with favouritism to party loyalists. Troops wear Nova-supplied uniforms and body armour, in the Nova Respublik "Desert Liberation" colour schemes, and use the so-called "baboon model" of the Nova helmet without the VR suite (which is just as well for the RPK forces as it lightens the helmet and more often than not the VR suite does not function correctly anyway). Under the helmet they wear traditional headgear. Combat operations continue against enclaves of Neo-Mongols on Kym, who hold out in the mountains and a few other places, against the Shunq-la, savage alien raiders who live in the deep desert, and most prominently against the Jasmine Throne, against which a Jihad has been declared. Many of the Neo-Mongols who escaped the war, and the ethnic cleansing that followed, now wander the galaxy (as does Katherine Kym, the crown princess of the fallen Neo-Khanate, who is in our DPLS crew set). Probably releasing these Wednesday or Thursday night, thanks for the interest. |

Oh my oh my. This is going to finally tip the scales and get me to send Khurasan an order. Is the plan to do a platoon comparable to the Crimson Army? And if so, will that be up for order this week? And if that's also so, when might they be ready to be shipped out? While I'm at it actually, any plans to do a platoon pack for the Federal Army or control Battalions, or maybe even the Felids or Marine Corporation? |
khurasanminiatures | 21 Feb 2012 6:54 p.m. PST |
Those things are good ideas, but there are only so many hours in the day. I'm definitely going to try to release them before Friday. |
Longstrider | 21 Feb 2012 7:56 p.m. PST |
Fair enough, I can imagine that it would be rather difficult to sort out compositions and then cast all of those up. But how about these new chaps? Seems like they'd be pretty easy to launch right out of the gate in a platoon pack as well. It's not really a big deal, though; I'm sure even I could figure out an easy way to organise them to match the Crimsons. |
khurasanminiatures | 21 Feb 2012 8:39 p.m. PST |
I actually do not cast my own models, I have contractors make the moulds and castings for me. |

I'm definitely going to try to release them before Friday. <ahem> Jasmine Throne Foreign Battalion sets are coming out *when* again, precisely

The Neo-Soviet types are listed under Red Faction/Opposing Force in the Sci-Fi 15mm Models section, and Nova Respublik Crimson Army in the Sci-Fi 15mm section. link And right on, John. Well, either way. Come Friday I'll be getting myself some, they look really good. |
