I've just come across this by accident. When I looked at it, the first thing I thought of was . . . Firefly!

What do you guys think?

Asian and Western? Plus a sprinkling of something else, perhaps?

All you guys who have bought the Splintered Light and GZG crews must have started making/buying/recycling terrain for them already, right?

QUESTIONS:

So, tell me, what ARE all you guys doing with your much-sought-after 15mm "Firefly" figures? What towns and outposts are you making for them?

Thanks.

From what I recall basically anything 19th Century onwards will go. Think Frontier town meets international airport.

I agree. Just replace the boxer Rebellion USMC with Alliance troops (and the steam ship with a space ship) and away you go!

This ability to make your game a potpourri of buildings and terrina makes it as flexible as Pulp or Colonial for getting the most out of a diverse collection.

I'm still in the 'planning and dreaming' stage right now (although a certain aquarium Chinese temple a friend gave me will have a use on a colony now!).

if you watch the Firefly series, you will find that is a mix of almost everything. There are western towns, Desert towns, modern marvels, shanty towns, eastern as well as hints of Indian culture. There are also many scenes that take place is dank industrial type settings. Basically, Firefly is a mix of what you want it to be.

Agreed – plus, on Alliance home worlds, as much high tech and glitter as you can stand

Cacique Caribe14 Jan 2010 11:35 a.m. PST

LOL. I guess that's why I like the less sterile look of what passes for architecture in the outer worlds.

Ones modified form freight containers would be definitely required on colony and Core worlds.

CW,

You are absolutely right!

And I hope these can pass for containers and pre-fab shelters:

Now I need to mix in the Western, Asian and other cool pieces.

All aspects that you would still find in our world plus very high tech and cultural western. Plenty of high tech even among the old settings.

Personally, I would use 28mm scaled buildings, and 28mm figures, and have them surround the puny 15mm firefly crew, and have them laugh and joke about the effects of the miniaturization ray … just before they shrank them further, going first for 10mm, then 6mm.

And then they would step on them.

But that's just me.

Cacique Caribe15 Jan 2010 9:56 p.m. PST

Ha! Miniaturization ray? They would just burrow into your skin and take over your brain . . .

Dan

Cacique Caribe16 Jan 2010 12:04 a.m. PST

Well . . .

Seems like I'm not the only one giving thought to using WH LOTOW for Firefly and other space westerns:

PS. I wonder if Yahoo Groups like this would have some valuable suggestions:

Help!

I can't seem to find any other images of what the towns and cities look like in the Firefly outer worlds.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Was at fisticuffs show in weymouth a while ago and one game there was firefly using the gruntz rule set

Cacique Caribe09 Jul 2013 7:09 p.m. PST

Ooo, how was that game?

RTJEBADIA09 Jul 2013 9:31 p.m. PST

Was it set during the U war or what?

chironex10 Jul 2013 2:09 a.m. PST

Why not some Gamecraft Tomorrows war buildings? They should do for colonies.

The RPG book shows farmhouses springing from ships that were designed to permanently embed themselves in the ground upon landing.

Wow. I've gotta check out those pics, if I can still find someone with those RPG books somewhere.

Thanks,

Dan
PS. Did they look like the ship on the right?

chironex10 Jul 2013 10:20 p.m. PST

No, the one in the book (bumblebee class) land head-first, ending up like a central tower sticking up out of a burnt dish, with modules sticking out on struts/arms. These unfold, leaving a cluster around a centre section.

Cacique Caribe10 Jul 2013 10:42 p.m. PST

Wow. Must look it up.

Thanks,

Dan
