Does anyone remember Outpost Gamma? link Has anyone done a tabletop miniature version of this game? If so, what would you say to using Kroot for it? CC TMP link |

"Outpost Gamma A Game Of Man To Man Combat On A Colonial World Of The Far Future ;infantry battles between a handful of high-tech troopers in powered armour and hundreds of primitive Irdan natives armed with salvaged weapons. Units: individual powered-armor troopers and Irdan leaders, and small groups of miners and natives Map: Absolutely beautiful, with different levels of elevation being very clear. Irda (the planet) is barren; the map shows dry canals, plateaus, and ridges. Rules for Irda's electromagnetic storms, ranged and melee combat, and disruption fire (stun grenades)" link The thing is . . . I can't find a clear image of what the "Irdans" are supposed to look like. CC |

Anyway, here are the Irdan, as they appear on the game counters: picture I guess that any alien figure would do, as long as: * they can severely outnumber the troopers; and * they use a combination of their own primitive weaponry and salvaged human weapons. Suggestions? CC |

Sure, I still have my copy. The scale makes a straight translation a little rough in terms of figures. Weren't the "native" counters something like 50 guys while the power armor troops were single troops
and there were a *lot* more native counters than marines? Might be interesting to use it as an inspiration for a minis game simulating a smaller portion of the overall battle, though. The terrain would certainly make a good table, the random storms are a good way to balance firepower advantages, and there are certainly lots of figs that would fit the theme nicely. SST Grizzly and Cougar suits would do for the troopers, Kroot would certainly make nice natives, and for the miners
well, hey, there's plenty of Squats and not-Squats to choose from, right? On a related note, one of our grand plans back in my college days was to do Dragon Rage as a 15mm minis table, but we didn't finish building the city before graduation rolled around. :) |

Hundvig, You won't believe what I've just found by looking at some of the last few comments on a thread I started on this very subject a while back: link TMP link That will teach me to research past threads a bit more closely, for any last-minute suggestions. I have a ton of Kroot, plus they are cheap to get on ebay if I need any more of them. CC |

Hi CC, Matakishi is planning a OG project. I have been as well in 6mm. Shabbat Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Maksim, Any progress so far? Thanks. CC |
Hundvig | 07 Jul 2007 11:17 a.m. PST |
Ah, I thought this idea sounded vaguely familiar. I think I've actually seen Matakishi's site, too. My memory's not what it used to be

Hi CC, I have powered armor painted up to work in either 6mm or 10mm
I'm still trying to figure out what to use for the rebels
I also need to buy a new Mars mat since my last Mars boards were lost in a move. I have some bunkers under construction as well
So, yes, there's been some progress. I plan to have the scenery serve others roles too: - Starship Troopers - Mars Forgeworld - Alien "Red" planet - And whatever else I can think of! Shabbat Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Maksim, There you go! Versatility is the key with most of my recent terrain projects as well. Please show us some photos when ready. Thanks. Dan |

Hi CC-Dan, You might have to wait on photos
my queue is already longer than I can handle in a reasonable period of time. I'll be handling some classic 15mm MM / RAFM Traveller models next for my blog
ACK! So much to do and so many little distractions like work and a life! Shabbat Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. 6mm-minis.blogspot.com |

What if 10mm was the route to go? link And what if these are the figures used for the aliens hordes? picture What 10mm figures do you recommend for the troopers? CC |

"TEN TROOPERS . . . . . . AGAINST HUNDREDS" link Now that I'm starting to dabble in 15mm . . . If I were to use 10 of my Rebel Minis Earth Force Marines as the troopers . . . link . . . what do you recommend for the Irdan? picture What if I gave the Rebel Minis Greys some primitive weapons? link rebelminis.com/15algru.html They could play the part of a remnant of a once advanced society gone primitive (post-apocalyptic). I REALLY like the idea of the GW Moria Goblins as primitive aliens (in this case, Irdans), because all of their armor is so alien-looking (not just the helmets): link link Images of the Irdans: picture picture Plus, they GW Moria Goblins are taller than my 15-17mm figures, which makes them all the more threatening. And, if you're using them with 28mm, they work great as skulking alien pygmies of sorts. But, what do you guys think??? Dan TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link TMP link |
