link I just ordered a box of 'em on ebay earlier this week! My plan (you guessed it): Use them as technologically advanced survivors of a crashed alien ship on prehistoric Earth. Gotta love Sci-Fi. You can do almost anything. Any other creative uses for Kroot? CC |

They have already met my British on the plains of Mars. Those martini-henry rifles do a number on their wiry little bodies I'll tell you. The Brits even captured the German scientist/industrialist who was providing them their weapons. |

Nah, not Martians— Venutians! When I get all this VSF stuff from Parroom Station painted I think there will definitely be a trip to Venus in the can. I've always wanted to paint some Kroot but I don't want to play the Tau in 40K. |

nazrat, My buddy has a whole kroot mercenary army. No Tau there. That is where we get our hordes of kroot from. They have fought against my Tau on a number of occassions. The force is actually quite viable against anything we have thrown at it except Grey Knights. Grey Knights turn them into pudding. The rules are in the various annuals and an issue of white dwarf from way back when. |

I got the 'bits' I needed from Battlewagon bits for kroot bodys and arms
and have been 'cloning' green epoxy SKINNY heads (off my mongoose metal skinny militia types) for use as non-armored skinnies
which also make great 'martian-types'
or other aliens
I've also 'cloned' some 'griffin grey heads'
using green epoxy to make a mold off several heads
and then using the green mold to form more green epoxy 'clones' of them. I've put the 'grey' head on the kroot body and it looks passable
I've also just merged a spare 'mantis hunter' head
(that I'd ordered from Mongoose with a regular mantis/assassing bug)
and merged it with the kroot body
and it looks like a 'Selenite' type (caves of the moon/First Men in the moon), critter
(or could be 'venusian'?
I've got some other 'heads' I'm working on 'meshing' with kroot bodies
(I've also merged a Griffin grey head with a TAU body and it looks kinda neat)
I may rework their 'weapons' though..to replace the gun with a spear or something more 'electro-gun-ish' like Selenites used. A box of Kroot costs about $35 USD at a local game store near us, but I got JUST the bits I wanted
8 torsos, 8 leg sets and 8 arm/weapons sets for about $12 USD or so from battlewagon bits. I've still got other kroot bits, and their heads
(which I'm playing with on other 'mods' for critters)
but the kroot bodies are usable for a lot of things
My wife said the bodies look like old-stylye 'Sleestak'
which is what I'm going to try NEXT! In any case
GW got it's 'pound of flesh' already
by me buying their bits
whoever sells them, whole or in parts
so what I DO with them
is my 'own business'
 Besides
I don't play in 'tournaments'
anyway. Those that do, are welcome to them and all the rules, limitations and conditions that come with them. IF that's your 'thing'
then that's cool! I'm just more into 'whatever works'
I don't plan to resell or 'market' my 'conversions'
though I've swapped a few with friends for other bits and for them to try doing their own versions of
and that too
is our choice. @CC
go head and 'experiment'
I've made 'green epoxy' molds off several 'bits' and then using mold release (after curing)
made limited numbers of extra 'bits' to use in conversions. It's not fast or 'easy'..but it is fun and I've gotten the 'knack' of doing it enough for my needs

Just started working on mine they are to be my Slavers from another world I am using the Kroot as basic slavers and the kroot on Krootox as my Hunter Killer "for runaways etc" and the hounds of course. I am currently looking at the Void Terror saurs as heavy support or the slave caravan. I have had it in my mind since playing the Turok Evolution PS2 game I had a few years which pits a primitive man against Sauropods on/in their world. The retro weapons look Ideal too. |

I have a small pile of FW Epic scale Kroot that I keep thinking about doing up
I just need to do a few conversions to get me some NCOs, Officers, and some Squad Support Gunners
I also need to come up with some vehicles for them
I am none too fond of leaving all of their transportation needs to animals like the KrootOx
They would probably have more than a few vehicles
I just have a little trouble trying to envision what they would look like

I would need to go back and have a look at that (The Martian Chronicles). It has been over 20 years since I read them
Obviously teh Kroot diet has been mostly anthropomorphic for the last several generations or they would have a different body form (if I am reading their description correctly). In any event
I do not use the GW background for the figures
So, they would be anthromorphs, and as such would have vehicles similar to the needs of other anthromorphs (seats, something to see the enemy with, something to shoot the enemy with, some method of communicating with friends, and some method of locomotion). Their sort of Porcupine looking spines seem to call for something that is crab looking in my mind
Maybe grav-vehicles that are also walkers
Using the Grav portion of their locomotion for long distance travel, and the walker portion for localized combat. Various antennae and weapons mounted in their front where the claws would be. Maybe a top and bottom turret??? At least something is beginning to form in my mind now

Thomas Whitten: "Kroot are great. They are the reason the Dinosaurs went extinct." Removing the lower jaw of the ones with open mouths, smoothing out the top jaw, and then reconstructing the lower jaw, perhaps? auction Or, maybe, I should go ahead with my original idea: link TMP link What do you guys think?
