Perhaps for hordes of primitive aliens/mutants, or "Morlocks", or degenerated "Atlanteans", or something else?

If so, how are you using them? What scenarios? Are you having to convert them at all for those scenarios, or do they work fine for you as is?

Thanks.

Here's another close-up:

Their poses are almost ape-like. Now, there's an idea! A Planet of the (Medieval) Apes, like the 2001 version!

CC, you should cut a head off and try one of your ape heads for size. I quite like the GW LOTR figures, as they're slimmer than their other ranges. Less cluttered, and overall less-GW-ish! Atlanteans sounds a useable idea. They could work as aquatic sub-class minions. They look as though they ought to be emerging from the sea covered in seaweed and briny gunk.

I recently bought a box load of the ones that came with the partworks magazine. Most of the metal ones were still blister packed and all the sprues were intact. I don't have a particular use for them right now, but I couldn't resist after I asked the price: £3.00 GBP for the lot! There were about 40 metal and 60 plastic figures in all.

No Uruk scouts, though, which I was hoping to find to use as Firefly Reavers as suggested elsewhere on TMP. They're languishing in my evergrowing pile of figures, awaiting the day when inspiration strikes.

I like Hasslefree's Bohkin.

Fomorians….or as post-apoc wastelanders…they've got a scrap metal look to them….because of the sculpt scale they'd work better with my GZG 'true 25's' than 28mm…

"they've got a scrap metal look to them…."

My thoughts exactly!

"because of the sculpt scale they'd work better with my GZG 'true 25's' than 28mm…"

They also seem to fit well with 1/72, as large mutants, don't you think?

I guess this is a face only a Morlock would love:

Yet, they seem armored very much like the Sanyassan in the Star Wars universe (in that awful kid movie "Ewoks: Battle For Endor"). They have a castle/keep and everything:

Modify them to have energy weapons & they could pass as "Remans" from the dreadful Star Trek 10… :>)

Cacique Caribe24 Apr 2009 6:36 a.m. PST

Hmmm. That's an interesting suggestion.

Hmmm (wheels turning).

Do you guys think they might work as Irdan???

I thought of getting a force of them together to fight my 15mm Ancients.

I am planning on finding a use for the ones I have already other than LOTR battles.

So I'm making some War Engine profiles so they can be used as some kind of primitive tribe in my Pulp games.

cool

They are going to undergo a little cosmetic surgery over here.

I am planning on making a primitive Planet of the Apes race for unsuspecting astronauts to find and have fun with.

They will be slightly taller than my 15mm GZG and RAFM astronauts, but that works great for me:

I say give em muskets and call em martians

Cacique Caribe30 Aug 2009 12:35 p.m. PST

These armored guys are around 20mm.

Do you think they would fit well on an alien planet, for 15mm astronauts?

Pretty alien-looking bunch, aren't they?

And, instead of the Fellowship, imagine a bunch of space explorers going through these ruins . . .

I REALLY like the idea of the GW Moria Goblins as primitive aliens, because their general posture, their armor and everything else about them is so alien-looking (not your typical fantasy Orc types):

Plus, they are taller than my 15-17mm figures, which makes them all the more threatening, don't you think?

For example, check out what the Outpost Gamma aliens (Irdans) are supposed to look like:

So, what do you guys think?

PS. And, if you're using them with 28mm, they work great as skulking alien pygmies of sorts.

On a topic related to this thread…

It's hard to find real aliens or mutants in 28mm for SciFi and post-apocalypse. I recently bought the new Scaven Clanrats. Once I replace some swords with Reaper SciFi weapons, then they can become my mutant rats for Metamorphosis Alpha RPG or 5150 skirmish.

TeknoMerk,

Did you ever do the weapon swap on those rats?

Anyone else using GW Moria Goblins as SF primitives?

Cacique Caribe13 Mar 2010 2:49 a.m. PST

Hmm. That was weird.

Anyway, they could be used kinda like those City of Skulls "samurai" from the film "The People That Time Forgot"*:

I mean, come on, what's not to like about a place like this?

I just came across this topic today, and it is really funny, I was just thinking of this very thing yesterday lol! Although my thoughts had gone more towards using them as Fomorian Giants in 15mm fantasy, the idea of big primitive aliens in 15mm sc-fi has its charm as well.

Rogue Zoat13 Mar 2010 8:58 a.m. PST

I suppose you could go "Pulp" and use them as a Deep One invasion force, Innsmouth Devision.

Cacique Caribe13 Mar 2010 3:32 p.m. PST

They do have a scaly look to them!

Dan

Cacique Caribe16 Oct 2010 2:22 p.m. PST

Since this thread was started, has anyone else been using them as SF aliens?

Perhaps against more advanced 15mm tall humans?

link

If so, I would love to hear about it and, if possible, see some pics of the game.

Thanks,

Dan
