I asked Stark if he could keep watch for a few minutes more because I had an idea I wanted to run past him and I didn't want to scare the women with it. He asked what damn fool notion I had and I told him that I wanted to sneak out and see if I could find the other Guardsman's m16. He agreed a full auto 5.56 would be damn handy and I could tell wanted to go with me, but also agreed that we couldn't leave the safety of everyone to Abu or a Nation guardsman we hardly knew. So quietly he let me out the side door and I slipped away into the night.

The neighborhood at night. [visibility 6" unless lit by streetlight]

Thor's planned path shown in red.

I only set up the board along the path.

I eased thru the eerily silent streets, katana at the ready.
Only in an emergency would I use my Luger.

picture

I saw something moving in the darkened junkyard behind the Ford.
picture

a pair of Zombie staggered towards me

As I move into the junk yard, I sense something behind me
picture

I stop, eyes trying to pierce the gloom
picture

Behind Me! [1st PEF = 1 zed]
picture

I move up to the fence and trying to be quiet, scramble over
picture

and ease thru the alley to where the guardsman fell
picture

something is up ahead [PEF #2]
picture

a Zombie across the street
picture

Rushing around the wreck to see if the M16 was there I come face to face w [PEF #3]
picture

Ah! A glance shows the rifle there, but no body. The Guardsman is gone!?!
picture

All right lets do this!
picture

I snatch up the rifle and the three empty magazines lying there.
A quick look shows me there's only a few rounds in the rifle's mag.
I sling it over my shoulder and run towards the Circle K.
picture

As I reach the fence
picture

a dog comes running up, Zeds right behind him!
picture

He looks pleadingly at me
picture

Here they come!
picture

The first two rush us
picture

and I knock them down
picture

before the rest can swarm us, I throw the dog over and make a mad clamber over myself
picture

As the Zeds starts banging on the sturdy fence, I head on over to the shop to check on Mr. Sanford.
He never leaves his truck anywhere, especially not in this neighborhood.
It was a gift from his father and lovingly restored and maintained.
I've admired it ever since I met him.
picture

The back door is open, not a good sign.
[minis on top represent they're in the building]
picture

Mr. Sanford?
Nope!
[I gave the ganger a BA pistol rather than the rifle because I thought it made more sense here]
picture

Out of the darkness came a curse as a gangbanging punk stood up pistol in my direction!
His shot went wild as I stepped forward and thrust the Katana into his chest.
picture

He collapsed in a gurgle and died.
I picked up the pistol, a nice .357 and quickly patted him down.
I found a handful of more shells and a Grenade!?!
[i placed the minis in front of a brick backdrop because I thought it looked better than the rooftop]
He was wearing the same colors as those punks we fought here a couple of days ago.
Was he just hiding here or watching us?
I found Mr. Sanford's body in the back.
Whether he was killed by this punk or a zed I couldn't tell.
I found his truck keys in his desk, covered his body with a tarp and left.
picture

We went outside and I checked out the truck, it had gas and seemed ready to roll.
But I didnt crank it up, I'll do that when we leave in a couple of hours.
picture

Locking up the truck, we ran back to the Circle K where Stark was waiting in the side door.
picture

What the hell, he demanded, eying the bulldog. I gave him the skinny once inside and showed him the military loot. Not bad, but you're not doing that again, he insisted. Amen! That was way too close, I can't be this lucky all the time. When my luck finally goes, I want friends around to help. We hid the loot in Stark's pack so we wouldn't have to answer any awkward questions from Abe then Stark went to grab a couple hours sleep before we leave. Up in the coolness on the rooftop, it took a long time for my hands to stop shaking as I watched over a dying city.

Well another fun game in the bag. I thought to minimize risk by going solo and quiet but it got too close too often for Thor to want to try that again. Luckily I was able to activate before the Zeds at critical times, especially when facing off the 6 in the alley. Whew! The second vehicle should come in handy, the dog and the grenade were icing on the cake. Thanks for looking.

Stay tuned for the next exciting game – Lets get the hell out of Dodge!

I've also worked up a mini for Thor more in keeping with a Zombie Apocalypse Style, less preppy.

Its Reaper's Chronoscope Hans with a new left hand & Katana from a Hasslefree Kev.

Great narrative, love the dog. I think the new model is far better for the genre, the original Thor looks like the guy from Scooby-Doo.

Another excellent game and write up. Keep up the good work. By the way I kinda liked the original figure.

I have been reading your Thors Journal for a little while now. Great campaign,

The best bit about the ATZ rules is that the story writes itself as you go. Your mind fills in the dialogue and great campaign is formed.

Love it.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Fatman, I like it to, thats why I use it.

John, yes it does look like Fred.
If you havent seen Hasslefree's Scooby Gang figures you're in for a treat.

I think the new model is far better.., the original Thor looks like the guy from Scooby-Doo.
You saw that too!?LOL I kept thinking.. 'why does this guy look familar?'

Im not sure about the dog yet. Love'm, and he can be a great asset at a 'hideout'.
ANY one/thing, comes around they bark. Early warning. But thats also the problem.
Noise brings more zeds. No more safe house.
