Gwyn and Rebecca slept in my room and Stark crashed in the back room around 10. I was on first watch and sat on the couch with the TV muted, watching the world dissolve into chaos. The internet was having a severe slowdown that wasn't very reassuring. Just after eleven, Gwyn came into the living room wearing only a long T-shirt. She didn't say anything, just sat on the couch curling up against me. I wasn't sure if she wanted to talk or fool around or what, so I just held her. She pressed her face into my shoulder, long auburn curls falling over her face and began to quietly cry. I held her, afraid to say anything. After awhile she stopped, suddenly she kissed my cheek and went back to bed. She hadn't said a word. I sat there thinking about her. I was still thinking about her 3 hours later when Stark came out for his watch.

Thursday morning one of the local news stations had a short piece about the quarantine of Northside and that two officers were killed by a rioting crowd. They didn't mention the zombies we had seen attacking the checkpoint. So much for reliable news. They also mentioned further neighborhoods may be quarantined. Swell… The Feds were still pretty quiet, just repeating the warnings to stay inside and listen to the local authorities. It's funny that we hadn't heard anything from the President on this yet.

We decided that we had better fortify the building and so dug into the maintenance room for tools. We blocked the backdoor and fastened a moveable bar across the front to hopefully keep unwanted visitors out. The downstairs windows may be a problem, but we should hear if they break. In the meanwhile, I put a few nails into the doors to the downstairs apartments in case anyone tried to enter via the windows. That should hopefully give us some warning and /or the edge if anything, or anybody, tries to come in after us.

Just after noon, I heard a knock on the front door. With Stark covering me, I went on down and answered it. It was Abu from the Circle K. He had promised to let us know when his shop got restocked but we hadn't heard from him until now. He said that he had gotten word that Navine, a friend of his brother-in-law had a warehouse full of dry goods. Abu was hoping to load up there in order to weather out this mess. The warehouse was down off 3rd Street in South Riverton, a disreputable neighborhood in the best of times. He was heading there now in his van and would like some help with security. If we would help him, he would give us each an arms load of whatever we wanted. Abu's daughter Priyanka was with him. That cinched it for Stark who has had a thing for her since he met her. We all shouldn't go, so I tried to convince Gwyn to stay at the apartment with Becca, as she insists on being called now. She wouldn't hear it, and so we all piled into the cruiser for the trip.

The trip was rather uneventful. The scariest thing was the columns of smoke rising from what I guessed to be burning buildings in the area. With the phones still out and cell service spotty at best, good luck with the police of fire department.

We pull into the lot, us in my blue FJ cruiser, Abu & Pri in the van. I presumed the LandRover was Navine's, but who's red truck?

As we Stark and I got out, we saw a walker coming across the lot.
We told everyone to stay in the cars and
picture

went to deal with it
picture

not wanting to call attention, I drew my Katana while Stark covered me
picture

it was kind of scary the short work the blade made of the zombie
picture

We got a sense that something was moving in the warehouse

the side door opened

and out stepped Navine

but before he could warn us,
picture

out stepped a gangbanging punk

Stark let loose with his Sig and the punk dropped in fear, I kicked the pistol from his hand and told him to be still
picture

i heard something was coming
picture

picture

our shots had brought more zombies
picture

picture

In a flash, the glass windows exploded as Stark exchanged fire with the punk's newly arrived friends
I dove for it
picture

as I scrambled back up, the punk rushed back inside
picture

One punk had had enough and ran back into the warehouse
picture

we found out later he had run into a zombie [Rep2 ganger vs Rep3 Zed]

[=zombie feast!] [the d6 shows how many turns the ganger's body will occupy the zeds]

Stark turned to deal with the two behind him

Navine ran for it as a zombie staggered towards him

Meanwhile, the punk with the shotgun saw his buddy being devoured and ran for it, right past us and away into the hood

picture

The last two punks saw what happened to their friend and gave up without a fuss
tossing out their pistols, Stark and I warily watched them run away
picture

Stark and I walked in and saw…

Stark freaked, running back into the office leaving me to handle these two
picture

picture

outside Abu paid off Navine and he left
picture

We tossed a tarp over the bloody mess in the warehouse and got down to business of loading up the vehicles
we heard something by the back door
[Gywn was given one of the captured pistols and the figure used is now herself]
picture

a new crowd of gangbangers wandered in, the one in the middle had an AK
picture

After a quick but tense talk, they decided to shop elsewhere
I dont know if they were from the same gang as the first lot, but we weren't taking any chances
As the power was flickering and it was sounding bad out back, we decided to head back to the vehicles
picture

The ride home was a bit nerve wracking. We were stopped at an intersection to let a national guard convoy pass. They were headed into South Riverton loaded for bear and I was glad we were leaving. Stark was quiet the whole ride back while Gwyn and Becca we chatty. When we got back to the apartment and unloaded we had it out. I don't know if the zombie's eating that gangpunk had freaked him or what, but he told me that Abu had offered to pay him to be security at his place for the duration and that he was going to accept. I don't know if he felt like a 4th wheel or wanted to be close to Priyanka or what, but we parted on good terms. I gave him one of the radio's we had found at the warehouse, so we could at least keep in touch. After all he would only be a few blocks away at Abu's if there was any trouble. After barring the front door after Stark left, I went to get ready for a good meal and another long night…

Another fun game. It surprised me because most action occurred out front rather than inside. Oh well… I got nervous dealing with gangers and zombies at the same time, but things worked out all right. The gangers screwing up their seeing the feast rolls, made them fold fast. The second set of Gangers had me nervousd but I made the talk roll with room to spare. It could have been worse, but luckily the last two PEFs[not shown] turned out to be nothing but hints to leave! What really kicked on this one was failing the keep it together roll with Stark. But he didn't leave Bleeped texted or anything, and hopefully we'll link up soon as Thor doesn't think it'll get better soon. In fact, he just made Survivor and is no longer considered a civvie. [Better reaction charts] And the icing was getting Gwyn a gun so I could use the Gwyn figure. Also, because of the successful nature of the scenario, everyone got 1 food and 1 roll to see what we got there.

Loot/Supplies brought back from warehouse
+3 pistols [1 to Stark & 2 to Gwyn]
+4 food [big bags of rice]
+2 Med
+1 Luxury [rechargeable walkie talkie radios with 4 sets range 1 mile][1 set with Stark]

some pics taken of the setup before I added the clutter/cover/dry goods

Very entertaining and another good outcome for Team Thor, despite losing Stark. At least he is still alive and may return in the future.

"Stark leaving the group." ok.. Never saw that coming.
In this situation, yes, safty in numbers (trusted numbers).
I would rather try to convince Abu to hold up at Thors. 3 of 4 are vacant. If they would..
1st get everything they could from Abu's.
2nd 'hit' a Lowes – Home Depot for supplies.
Board up 'most' of the windows / reinforce the main doors w/ plywood.

These just keep gettig better (erked at Stark spliting) but great game and story.

I will have to check out "Aftermath Mods", the warehouse is great.
Im REALLY starting to take an interest in ATZ now, even wondering if I could find a space to run "solo's" so to speak.
