Z-Day 001 – Thor's Journal
Day One – The Long Way Home
an ATZ FFO Batrep

There were weird reports for days from all over about people being attacked. Some thought it was some new drug being smuggled into the country, others thought it some sort of Chinese sickness or African Rabies, while the tin hat crowd yelled about biological warfare, they were all wrong. It was zombies. I went into work that last day like normal, but half the cubicles were empty. Being tech support for the companies website, I had plenty of time to check up on the news and it just keep getting worse. The phones went down that morning and set everyone off. Word came down we could leave at noon and I walked out the door at 11:59. With all the craziness I wish I had brought my Ruger in with me, but while having my concealed carry permit like any good Tennessean, the company suits frowned upon carrying at work and I needed the job, so the Ruger stayed in my car. As I left I thought I could use some cash if the credit card machines were down and so headed to the nearest ATM down the block.

Walking down the 2nd Street.

Whats that crowd of folks doing?
picture

Running this way?
picture

Crap!
picture

When I get up and make it down to the ATM, guess what?
picture

Now Rivertown has a seriously bad gang element, but these were just regular folks that knocked me over.
Well screw this, I want my Ruger! So I head straight for my Cruiser to properly arm myself.

picture

picture

Hmmm, who are they? Who cares.
picture

WTH? What's he doing to my car!?!
picture

Gotta go! Hmmmm, nice rack.
picture

Ah hell… not again, and by a chick to!
picture

When I get to my Cruiser you guessed it, window bashed and Ruger gone…
picture

The only thing useful left in here is the tire iron which I grab just in case.
I head off to Rivertown's best gun store to pick up some ammo just in case the situation doesn't improve.
At home I have my hunting rifle and my P08 Luger.

When I walk up to the store, another crowd rushes me! Did I have a Whack-A_Thor sign over my head or what?

picture

Down, but at least I wasnt dazed as before. Am I getting used to this?
picture

I pull out the tire iron and come up swinging.
picture

Take that!
picture

Thats right run around me!
picture

You want a piece of me?
picture

Not you?
picture

Well you do! BAM!
picture

That was really close! What a difference a piece of iron makes! Lets see what they have left.
picture

Well I got 3 boxes of 9mm and the last box of 30-06. I wish I hadn't lost the Ruger.

Ah… home in site!

picture

WTF? Another joker wanted to get rough? Is something in the air?
picture

Well how do you like Mr. Tire Iron?
picture

Keep on running pal…
picture

Ah… Home Sweet Home!
picture

What a day! Driving was crazy but still safer than walking turned out to be. After bolting the door, I turn on the news to more craziness and take stock of what I have. Oh well, this can't last long can it?

Well with the Missus and kids gone for a weekend, what else to do but start my long delayed ATZ campaign? I got several games in so more batreps soon.

Will Thor and friends be long for this crazy new world? Only time, and the dice, shall tell.
Oh, and I do have properly painted minis for my PCs, I just am using the prepaints for unarmed figures as most of my painted stuff seems to be armed to the teach.

Thank you for looking.

No zombies yet? Luger will be handy.

What scale are the buildings and where did you get them? Very nice write up.

Thank you Gents.

Matthew, they are 'O Scale' RailRoad Plasticville buildings grabbed from ebay. They can be found cheap used. I intend to clean and paint them, but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

Thank you for the info. I will take a look and see what I can find. I think the detail on those buildings is really nice.

I 'just' found this, surfing and thought..lets see what the NOT quit Dead are doing these days.
I actually came across "Day 9", afte doing a 'skim over' read, I knew this was something I had to know more about so…
I put that page, which had all the Previous Days listed into my Favs on my comp. Now I can catch up on what all Ive missed.

This looks really cool.. I think Im gonna like this.

Best of luck..
