Does anyone know where I can find some Classic Star Trek minis in 28mm? I've got some Starfleet Marines from Task Force Games, but I need "regular" crew types. Thanks! |
Chronofus | 29 Jan 2007 9:34 p.m. PST |
Eureka briefly made a 25mm size set of Star Trek guys and klingons. I guess they are out of production now. |
crewchiefmodels | 29 Jan 2007 11:03 p.m. PST |
They come up on eBay pretty often but some are primed white and always looked suspicious to me. |
Norrins | 30 Jan 2007 2:49 a.m. PST |
Not sure if they still do them, but 1st Corps used to a set of figures called the 'away team'. They never publicised them for obvious reasons, but if you email them you can order them. They're the same size as the Eureka set. |

I've got the "movie era" crew, from FASA, but they're closer to 20mm. |

DS6151, Very interesting. Where did those come from? I had not seen those before. By the way, I think there is a link glitch with the "Man in Chair" set. CC |

Look at this: TMP link Looks like someone else is seeing the demand. CC |
Mavrides | 19 Feb 2007 9:31 a.m. PST |
Hmm the demand is there allright
. A dumb question here
.. Are there a set of REALLY simple rules for them ? My little brother likes Star Trek, If I could find a simple game to make around those figs
.might make a good present. |
Cacique Caribe | 19 Feb 2007 9:42 a.m. PST |
Mavrides, My nephew is the same. At this point I figured I could start with the figures and, by the time he gets them painted, I will have found a compatible set of rules for them. CC |
evilmike | 21 Apr 2007 10:10 p.m. PST |
Mavrides
.FASA used a clone of the old Azhanti High Lightning rules for its RPG system, and it worked very well with mini's. Given the incredible lethality of ST hand weapons (hand phasers make things go POOF!), all you really have to worry about is movement/hit charts
.. BITS also sells a Traveller supplement called 'At Close Quarters', and if you can't convert that to mini's, I'll eat a tribble
..nicely BBQ'd
.mmmmm
.tribbles

I have an AMT model of the Enterprise Bridge. It has the chair, consul, computer, everything in a "Movie Set" style that is perfect for gaming, also includes Spock, Sulu, Kirk and a couple more in 1/48 scale. I got it at Greens Models (oop horror and sci fi model discounter)and have seen it on E-bay cheap. It is rugged, modular design (I built it without out glue the second I got it, put it back in box and
. (Why did I not build it?). Anyway, I can't think of anything that would be better for gaming Star Trek, so y'all try to find one. |

Has anyone actually bought the Victory Force or Discount Minis figures? I'm curious as to how they compare size-wise, as VFM don't do any female crew and I'm wondering if the females from Discount would work with the males from VFM. On a related note, there is also the Spaced Trekker in VFM's SuburbaKnights, who could be used as an alien crewmate (Think Worf in Next Gen). Here's a Pic: link |
DS6151 | 27 Apr 2007 5:05 a.m. PST |
The Discount Minis are true 25mm. They fit perfect with the old Heratige Star Trek Line. I do not know about the VF stuff. |
Cacique Caribe | 27 Apr 2007 7:15 a.m. PST |
Carrion Crow, Thanks for the link! Is there just the one Victory Force figure? If so, will they be expanding the range? CC |

Jay Arnold | 03 May 2007 8:58 a.m. PST |
MonkeyborgRedux, i have a couple of Glen's SAS figures,I can send them to you for a comparison. Not sure when he is due back, but I can ask a couple of his mates, they may have a better idea. From what i remember, Glen was going out to Iraq first, then was hoping to do a stint in Afghanistan, he's stark raving mad you know!!! ;-]] Nigel H |

What I posted was: There are currently 15 figures in the proper "Space Farer" line from VFM. They're slender 28s meaning they stand as tall as a GW fiugure, but are proportioned a little bit more realistically. |
Cacique Caribe | 03 May 2007 9:09 a.m. PST |
Jay, If you mean Victory Force, am I looking in the wrong place? I only see one: link CC |
Cacique Caribe | 03 May 2007 10:23 a.m. PST |
I FOUND THEM!!! link Very, very nice! Will they be making more variants of the armed "Crew Trooper Packs"? I only see 5 of the same variant in each of the two packs. Thanks. CC |
Carrion Crow | 08 May 2007 5:20 a.m. PST |
Right, I've been having a mouse around, as I've currently got the 'Star Trek in Miniature' bug. Here are some miniatures I think are suitable (and about the same size). First, victoryforce.com Their Spacefarers range covers a standard trekkish crew, alternate universe versions and alien versions, 15 figures in all. The crew-man armed with a rifle also comes in packs of five, both standard and alternate universe versions. They also do a Spaced Trekker in their Surburbaknights range, which would make a good alien crew-member. In their creatures line, the Lumbering Gravel Creature screams Trek alien
Next, black-tree-design.com Look in their Dr Who range. Vicki would make a good female crew member, the Ogrons and Draconians (regiment pack) would make good alien crews, and Aggedor and the Gell Guards would make good Indigenous Life Forms. (Although for cheaper gell guards, look here: TMP link Next, mongoosepublishing.com Under their Babylon 5 roleplaying game, they have four boxed sets of figures. The Earth Force personnel could easily be repainted as Trekkish figures and the Narn and Minbari sets would make good alien races. Unfortunately, the Earth Force personnel you can't buy separately, unlike the other two races. Finally, wargamessupplydump.co.uk Under the Dick Garrison range, we have the Retrovians, which would make a good alien race for Trek-inspired games, even though they resemble Treens. Plus, under their miscellaneous figures they have the Cyclopian Alien, which you can just imagine lumbering around a corner on Start Trek, the arms operated by fishing wire
Like I needed ANOTHER miniature project
lol |

How does the female crew members from Mega Minis compare with the Victory Force crew? I like the VF models, but the lack of females just seems odd. link link I should also point out that there is a custome paper model generator for Trek. link |

The Mega Minis are true 25mm, and look perfect next to 1st Corps "Away Team", and both are a cinch to paint :) Now, if I could find aliens and especially Klingons in that scale, I would be happy as a clam. Any word on Matakishi's project? |

Ok, the VF guys are on average 30mm to the eyes, and 32 to the top of their heads. One of the guys is about 2mm taller, and another is about 1mm shorter, which makes them look more "natural". If you're planning on doing the "Spock's Brain" thing (and knowing your fondness for cavement, it seems like a natural deduction), you'll need 35mm cavemen. |
Smokey Roan | 15 Jun 2007 8:17 p.m. PST |
That (Spocks Brain) was a wierd episode! Any news on who true 25mm Star Trek figures can do battle with? BTW, John at Mega told me about a bunch more additions to his "Men in Black" line as well as new aliens. Those Men in Black are so useful (like most of his product). |
