This was discussed last Spring: TMP link MINIATURES These are the only miniatures I am aware of: link link link RULES I am not aware of any specifically made for gaming apes. Have there been any new developments (in miniatures and/or rules) in the last few months? CC |

Area23, That is an impressive list! What troops do you pit against your apes? What rules do you use? CC |
Area23 | 05 Jan 2006 2:30 a.m. PST |
None, this is just a list! My plans though: Recent discussion on these pages makes the Eureka apes good (neo-)Soviet soldiers. Either post-apocalypse or alternative history Stalingrad. The Critters' together with Assault Group west-africans. Post Apocalypse brain enhanced gorillas. The Mongoose monkies are some of the best minis of the last year. If I ever get to playing again WarEngine (Shockforce) seems the best choice. |

Area, you can add SJ games UPLIFT apes to your futuristic list. link |

Wow! Thanks Cyano, I never seen those before. Very nice. |

Warzone has some gigantic apes with futuristic weapons, part of the 'Dark Legion' faction if memory serves. |

Here's my growing ape and monkey collection. link A slight highjacking but I'll add me and my comrades are planning to game with some of these figs with modified LOTR rules and Superfigs. The baboons will be used for some fantasy skirmish my friend is cooking up with a mythic theme. I need a big ape, probably that Reaper one to be the big leader. We'll use a modified version of Superfigs. The Boiler Suit Apes will be used with either a modern modification of LOTR (quick and easy) or a modified version of Shockforce (bit more detail). Maybe superfigs too. My theme is Government bred super apes escaping to form the Ape Liberation Army or some other fun nonsense. Glad to hear others have a liking for Primates. Great list Area 23!

I love those Mongoose Ape Gang figs, mine are primed now waiting for me to actually get around to painting. I waited with baited breath for those figs to materialize as soon as Gangs of Mega City One came out and they didn't disappoint. I love those Foundry and Reaper gorillas and am planning on picking some up for a few pulp games based around Solomon Kane's african adventures. Those one's on MrWhite's link are pretty cool too, might have to devise a good use for them. |

Two more apes to add to your list, Area23, but they're both long OOP. Citadel/GW did a Jokaero way back when. Basically a smallish unarmed Orang: link And Leading Edge Games did quite a few minis for the movie (and RPG) Lawnmower Man, including Rosco 1138, the intelligence-enhanced chimp: picture Rosco looks a lot better in-the-lead than he does in that photo. The Jokaero are exceedingly rare, but the Lawnmower Man minis pop up on Ebay fairly often. I have a WH40K Jokaero band made up of one of the original Jokaero, several Roscos (som with minor conversions), the Superfigs Jump Monkey, and a few fantasy chimp and monkey familiars, used as juvenile Jokaero. In the interest of accuracy, all monkeys have had their tails removed (ouch!), 'cause apes ain't got no tails. |

Any apes with guns in 15mm? |
John Leahy | 05 Jan 2006 1:34 p.m. PST |
I've used Gaslight and Battles by Gaslight for my POA games. I have set them in a Lost World scenario. I also plan on using them for various Sci-fi and Stargate style settings. I noticed that nobody mentioned the Mage Knight native Apes with Spears and ball and chain weapons. These have native style shileds. I have used them as primitive apes that my POA (more advanced apes) have battled and been allied too. Thanks, John |

I see it as the same mentality as to why sheep follow each other to slaughter. Sure they know what is going on but they are to dumb to stop it. |

Cacique Caribe Where are you finding your Eureka "POTA" Apes with guns miniatures? I'm trying to get at least one of each pose so that I can mold and cast for myself. Please let me know if you get some leads on some for sale or if anyone has some to get rid of? Thanks. David dglennjr@yahoo.com |
Cacique Caribe | 18 Dec 2007 4:09 p.m. PST |
Unfortunately, I had to sell off my collection and I can't think of anyone who still has any available for sale. "so I can mold and cast some for me" Careful with statements like that. The IP Police may fall on you like flies. :) CC |
