What 25-28mm figure (link much appreciated) would you nominate as your candidate to use as the "traveler"? Thanks. CC |

I would use the one of the west winds males from GHD0007 – The Gang, the rolled up sleeves and large moustache, he fits in perfect. Pulp do some good ones, and Jeff valiant does some Victorian adventure types that fit nicely too. Tony |

I got a good laugh from the caption of the picture on the first link above. Are the two people named in the caption, the people in the picture :) |

Bob (and your dog) Rod Taylor is standing on the right but the girl to the left is Yvette Mimieux(apologies for any mis-spelling). Doris Lloyd was the time traveller's housekeeper in the Victorian segment of the film. |

Thankd Andoreth for helping the other readers understand the situation. From the picture caption we get the idea that the woman is Doris Lloyd. |

What about Malcom Macdowell in Time after Time? He didn't look much like Wells. |

While y'all are on the subject; are there any choices for 15mm in this category? I have always wanted to do the original movie figures and time machine in 15mm, but haven't give it much thought in the last decade. |

Any thoughts on a 28mm time machine? I've had an idea involving one of those bronze pencil sharpeners in the shape of a cash register, a parasol, one or two Christmas ornament sleds and possibly a plastic toilet with a curtain around it for modesty. I'd be willing to ditch the last idea. |

1) I would love to find a 28mm figure like the time traveler here (a clean-shaven "Victorian", with a vest and shirt, but not the coat): link 2) Also, any suggestions on what 28mm figure to use for "Weena"? Thanks. CC PS. For suggestions on the Sphinx: TMP link |

For those who are interested in the original story and characters I would like to point out the dvd has something quite special. In 1993 they filmed something called The Journey Back and it is included on the dvd. It includes a bunch of info on the Time Machine, and making of the movie, and how the prop fell into disrepair in the back warehouse, and was later found and restored. But the really cool thing is they filmed a new sequence between Rod Taylor and Alan Young, where they meet up one more time many, many years after their last meeting (obviously, the original movie was made in 1960 and this was filmed 33 years later). It was really neat seeing these two actors get back together after so many years. Very cool "alternate extended ending" if you will. Steve |

Steve, I've never seen that follow-up film. I'll have to look it up. Thanks. It seems like we might have plenty of potential Morlocks very soon: TMP link CC |

This is an idea I've been toying with for some time. One of these days I'll try to actually do it . . . What do you guys think? CC ------------------------------------------ Time Machine Scenarios Main Victorian Characters: George – Time Traveler Filby – George's best friend Dr. Hillyer Anthony Bridewell Walter Kemp Mrs. Watchett Eloi: Weena 8-10 Eloi males 6 other Eloi females Morlocks: 15-20 Morlock warriors 1-2 Morlock leaders Unlike the 1960 film, George convinces his colleagues and even Mrs. Watchett (six in all) to accompany him on his fantastic journey through time. When they reach October 12th, 802,701AD, they stop the machine and investigate. Scenario I: After befriending Weena, and the first hypnotic "harvesting" of the Eloi by the Morlocks (which takes Weena and the other Eloi into the Sphinx), George and his companions try to find an entrance. When they discover the Eloi about to be slaughtered, George and his companions (some with small firearms, others with torches to blind the Morlocks), fight the Morlocks and embark on a return topside through the Morlock underground. If they are successful in the rescue, the Victorians must try to set fire to the fuel running the underground pumps. If Weena is not rescued, George's morale and skills will be severely compromised. Mrs. Watchett is the slowest one of the group, so all have to reduce their movement to accommodate her frailty. She will not be left behind (it's not the Victorian way, after all). Victory conditions: All Victorians and Weena are safely returned to the surface. Scenario II: After reaching the surface, they discover that the time machine has disappeared into the Morlock structure. They must re-enter the Morlock underground. If they are fortunate enough in their search, they find the time machine. However, it is damaged and can only make a single very short trip into the past. They must move the machine outside the gates, if they are to make this escape successful, while fighting off a band of Morlocks. This may be just what they need to avoid (recover) any losses during this second scenario. Victory conditions: The time machine must be found within a few turns, in order for them to make the trip back to before the taking of the contraption. Don't even ask about the temporal implications of going back before you have left! :) |

Hopefully, this other thread will produce some possible figure candidates for the Eloi: TMP link CC |

One of the things I liked about the movie was when the Eloi discovered that they had tiny fists apparently made out of concrete. |

LOL. One more reason why I want them to have few if any improvised weapons and to be more of an obstacle than a help to the Time Traveler. CC |

I still like this look best for a travel-worn time traveler: link link link Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a figure that matches it. Most have lots of facial hair (huge sideburns, moustaches, etc.) or look too old otherwise (balding). CC |
