Any "not troopers" and "not bugs" in 15mm? The 28mm models for the rules are almost at $40 USDk prices, so I'm trying to tone it down to 15mms. Any reccomendations? |

Did you look under Khurasan's Sci Fi area? Lots of bug possibilities: link Keep scrolling down on the page

The best thing I've found for bugs from any of the manufacturers is GZG's Ixx. Most bugs don't have guns so if you are looking for SST bugs the Ixx are one of the few that do. |

I thought the Defiance Games plastic bugs would work but they seem hard to get hold of. I'm not even sure they've been released. The info on their site has been untrustworthy in the past. They do look good though. Stand about 22mm tall I think so would look suitably imposing in 15mm.
|
Mako11 | 13 Jul 2013 4:40 p.m. PST |
Hmmm, I don't see the GZG ones, which were dead on matches for the ones from the movie. I seem to recall them being available in both 15mm and 25mm scale. |
aapch45 | 13 Jul 2013 4:46 p.m. PST |
The gag ones look cool. The khurasan ones are good too. Not sure about the teeth on those guys though. And the guns are kinda silly, but neat. thanks guys. the defiance ones are a little expensive for what I want to do. |
aapch45 | 13 Jul 2013 6:31 p.m. PST |
Gzg not gag
sorry miss type |

Those are just about perfect. I am not a fan of those teeth though. other than that Damn near perfect :) Already getting some of your "not aliens" for my xenomorph rules . I think I can get past the teeth, the models look great. Thanks for personally responding. The troopers are perfect by the way. |
TheRatGod | 13 Jul 2013 7:38 p.m. PST |
could easily remove the teeth if needed i bet. |
khurasanminiatures | 13 Jul 2013 7:45 p.m. PST |
We didn't discuss it but I think Mike actually made them based on the SST mobile infantry. They were the first 15mm human sci fi figures I released. Funny to think about that now -- I've got something like 60 poses of various new 15mm humans waiting in the wings to be released! |
khurasanminiatures | 13 Jul 2013 7:48 p.m. PST |
The parasachnid teeth were supposed to look something like this:
But that would have been very difficult to cast indeed. |
aapch45 | 13 Jul 2013 7:54 p.m. PST |
The harder the cast the more the cost. the teeth can be dealt with, and the mouths can be beamed easily. I'll be more than pleased to place some orders asap. I've got my bugs |
Defiance Games | 13 Jul 2013 8:53 p.m. PST |
Hi Agent Brown – yes we send them out every day. You can get them from other places too! link |
War Monkey | 13 Jul 2013 8:57 p.m. PST |
Might have to write to GZG about the 15mm ones, the only ones I know of they have on their site are in the 6mm section
|
Mako11 | 13 Jul 2013 11:26 p.m. PST |
They looked like those 6mm ones shown above. Can't recall for sure if the others were 15mm, or 25mm now, so could be mistaken about the 15mm ones being available. I guess 25mm ones could be pressed into service as really big 15mm scale bugs (like in the movie), so may work in either case, if they're still available. |
Pictors Studio | 13 Jul 2013 11:53 p.m. PST |
Penndraken make ones like the ones in that picture in their 10mm range. They are pretty cheap too. |
captainquirk | 14 Jul 2013 1:36 a.m. PST |
GZG used to do a couple of 25mm bug variants. Two slashers and one with bio-weapon sacs, if I recall correctly. Not sure about 15mm. If they ever sold that then my guess would be that it would have been a Eureka bug that GZG were manufacturing under the agreement the two businesses had. I'm pretty sure it isn't in production any longer by either GZG or Eureka. I managed to buy one of the Eureka 15mm bugs via Ebay a while ago, and it was a very good match for the SST film. Seems to be a very rare find as far as purchasing is concerned though – I've never seen another one up for sale. |
Ironwolf | 14 Jul 2013 1:53 a.m. PST |
I have the Penndraken 10mm SST bugs. They are just a bit bigger than GZG 15mm armored troops. So thats what I went with for human vs bug battles. |

Mike Broadbent | 14 Jul 2013 6:20 a.m. PST |
I made the bugs that both Eureka and GZG used to sell, in both 28mm and 15mm but they were pulled from market when Mongoose bought the rights to their game. To my knowledge they are no longer available other than searching Ebay etc. Sorry Mike |
keeper Nilbog | 14 Jul 2013 6:38 a.m. PST |
CMG arc Troopers are a good fit for the MI from the cartoon series (Roughnecks), so would fit well in Mongoose SST rules (which I love, and will eventually do something about) as they are the standard trooper. |
captainquirk | 14 Jul 2013 1:42 p.m. PST |
@Mike Hadn't realised they were yours, Mike. They were very nice, especially the 15mm one. Only wish I'd managed to find some identical friends for him! |
aapch45 | 14 Jul 2013 7:26 p.m. PST |
Other than the khurasan ones, I'm not finding any thing. How big are those 6mm ones compared to 15mm? ebay is empty and nobody is selling their 15mm bugs. What are the 6mm ones listed under? |
War Monkey | 14 Jul 2013 7:56 p.m. PST |
The 6mm ones are listed under GZG's 6mm/Dirtside |

The pendraken minis seem like a good deal as well. Anybody have any pics of those? I'm looking to run the Sst game, so I would need warrior bugs, blister/blaster bugs, hoppers, tankerz etc. Anything else in the pendraken line resemble any of what I'm saying? |

Thanks artbraune, link is useful Anybody have any comparison pictures of the pendraken compared to 15mm troops? any pics of the gzg bugs compared to 10-15mm troops? |
Cacique Caribe | 15 Jul 2013 10:26 a.m. PST |
Artbraune, Awesome comparison links there! link Thanks, Dan |
Cyclops | 15 Jul 2013 4:05 p.m. PST |
I've got some of the Pendraken large jawed bugs. I'll try and dig them out and post a comparison pic with some 15mm figures. As I remember they were a little small compared to the movie version. Pendraken aliens are perfect for 15mm. |
aapch45 | 15 Jul 2013 4:36 p.m. PST |
Thanks agent brown. I appreciate it! Cannot wait to see those Does anybody have any sources for skinnies in this scale? |

You never cease to amaze me khurasan miniatures! Now all you need to do is open the site back up :) lol |
War Monkey | 15 Jul 2013 5:07 p.m. PST |
Okay I have to go for Pendraken's aliens and bugs myself (added to wish list) |
aapch45 | 16 Jul 2013 5:55 a.m. PST |
Here's what I'm using for my Sst project : pendraken large jaw as my warriors, khurasan bugs as blister/blaster bugs, khurasan fliers as hopper bugs, pendraken flame bug as a baby plasma bug, khurasan giant beetle as a tanker bug, rebel mantis warriors as mantis hunters and assassins, rebel mites as spiders, and cliffmites. and an assortment of khurasan gzg and rebel minis as mobile infantry |
War Monkey | 16 Jul 2013 8:35 p.m. PST |
Sounds like a really good line up. |
AVAMANGO | 16 Jul 2013 10:11 p.m. PST |
Those Pendraken large jawed bugs do look almost like perfect bug representations, if i was gaming SST those would be my choice. |
aapch45 | 17 Jul 2013 8:03 a.m. PST |
My only problem with the pendraken bugs is the large ball on the back, which makes the bugs look like fat spiders. Where the movie/cartoon bugs were more like a giant jaw on legs with claws. |
Cyclops | 18 Jul 2013 3:21 p.m. PST |
Pic of 10mm Pendraken bug with 15mm Traveller figures.
Too small and crude I think. YMMV. |
khurasanminiatures | 18 Jul 2013 4:09 p.m. PST |
By the way, if you want something truly huge, the 28mm version of the parasachnids will be out frighteningly soon. Exactly the same as the 15mm versions, only twice as big, and the head claws are separate pieces. |
War Monkey | 18 Jul 2013 6:07 p.m. PST |
Okay I really like those, seems to me to be just right size BIG! |
AVAMANGO | 18 Jul 2013 8:20 p.m. PST |
I kind of like the crudeness or should i say simplicity of the Pendraken bug, with a good paint job it could be made to look the business not that there is anything wrong with your painting abilities Agent Brown. |
Cacique Caribe | 19 Jul 2013 6:16 a.m. PST |
Wow. Nice pic of the Pendraken bug!!! I guess I must get my hands on a few. Thanks, Dan |
aapch45 | 19 Jul 2013 6:53 a.m. PST |
@khurasan that is amazing news @agent brown thanks so much! Those look perfect in size! |
Cyclops | 19 Jul 2013 10:10 a.m. PST |
I've got a shedload of the fantastic 28mm plastic SST bugs so that's what I'm comparing against. Maybe the Pendraken ones will look good en masse. And beggars can't be choosers. They work out at 60p each so pretty cheap. |
