Or suitable for your Ancient Egyptians? Or for your Goauld killers? Other than selected pieces from the following soundtracks: Stargate (1994) The Mummy (1999) The Mummy Returns (2001) Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) What else would you recommend? Basically, I want music that will inspire me to build Egyptian-themed terrain pieces. In other words, what else has THIS general "nostalgic" feel? YouTube link YouTube link Dan |

YouTube link Seriously though, try the soundtrack from "Lawrence of Arabia." It's nice and
deserty (?). |

Gribby, LOL. My terrain would end up very different if I played that 80s hit over and over in the background. Dan |

Maybe you should check out the Indiana Jones soundtracks, especially the first one. You might some inspirational background music there as well. |

Gribby, Good point there. The one in the Raiders movie that really fits is "The Map Room – Dawn": YouTube link Thanks, Dan |

Use the same music from "Swan Lake" that was used in both "The Mummy" with Boris Karloff and "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi. |

How about Maurice Jarre's 'Lawrence of Arabia' OST? Or anything by Tuareg folk-music warblers; Tinariwen. Alexandre luigini's 'Ballet Egyptien'. Franz Reizenstein's awesome theme for Hammer's 1959 'The Mummy'. |

Thanks guys! I have a feeling I'm going to be searching ebay and other sources for lots of those soundtracks. Wow. I could easily build an entire pyramid or temple complex with music of this type in the background: YouTube link YouTube link Dan |

As long he don't run into a beatnik while looking for a copy of a Connie Stevens/Edd Byrnes record. ;^) |
Servo3000 | 17 May 2011 7:08 a.m. PST |
Here are some more offbeat choices I can recommend: Alfred Newman and Bernard Herrmann's soundtrack for "The Egyptian." Ernest Fanelli's music for "The Romance of the Mummy" and other Egyptian themes is on a disc called "Fanelli: Symphonic Pictures." There's an excellent hybrid SACD of Bantock's "Omar Khayyám" which sets the mood pretty well, even if it's not in Egypt. |

Almost overlooked "Inside the Great Pyramid" by Paul Horn. The eerie sound of a flute actually playing in the chambers of the great pyramid is very evocative! |
Watchtower78 | 17 May 2011 7:35 a.m. PST |
Desert Rose by Sting isn't a bad choice either if you want to spice it up a bit. You can also go with some of Tangerine Dream's more sandy selections. |

For a nice slice of the ORIGINAL 1932 classic Karloff "Mummy" soundtrack, follow this link: YouTube link THE most atmospheric of all the "Mummy" themes written for film. A longer version (with more dialogue) is out there to download (I have it), but I've lost the link! TVAG |

YouTube link Well, not really. hmmm. There's got to be a soundtrack from Cleopatra out there. I think theres a bit of music from Gladiator when they're in Zanzibar. Is there anything good in Kingdom of Heaven? |

There's a great Dmitri Tiomkin score from 'Land of the Pharaohs' (1955): link Includes a useful motivational section with under-performing troops being fed to the crocodiles. |

How about "Mummy Mummy Mummy, Ive Got Sand in My Tummy" 1910 Fruitgum Company. okay, I paraphrased, but the tune is catchy. "Dance Like an Egyptian" maybe, or does the vision of Steve Martin wearing a Hollywood Egyptian get up while doing spastic movements throw you off ? |
