So, for the benefit of those who might need a little extra inspiration for their terrain projects . . . QUESTION: What cool images of crashed spaceships have you found, accidentally or intentionally, in your many Internet searches? I guess I'll start the list with this one I've just found: picture link Dan |
Captain Apathy | 06 Oct 2010 10:22 a.m. PST |
|
Napoleon91 | 06 Oct 2010 11:12 a.m. PST |
|
Top Gun Ace | 06 Oct 2010 11:29 a.m. PST |
Hmmm, there's the large on on the Mos Eisley WotC table, that is almost vertically planted in the ground. Sorry, can't recall the link, but it can be found under a search for Mos Eisley terrain and buildings. |
Toaster | 06 Oct 2010 11:43 a.m. PST |
There's a beauty over at CMON, I'll try to post a link when real life gets out of the way but the boss is due at work about now. Robert |

There's a painting by Angus Mckie, that was used on the cover of White Dwarf #17. It's the one with the unfortunate crew member in the foreground, and the enormous remains of the ship in the distance. link |
Mutant Q | 06 Oct 2010 1:09 p.m. PST |
I'm surprised no one brought up this classic: picture |
Top Gun Ace | 06 Oct 2010 1:14 p.m. PST |
Hmmm, haven't seen that last one before. The girl looks a bit disinterested in all the events going on, but at least her hair still looks good. No doubt dreaming about her upcoming date night

Farstar | 06 Oct 2010 1:45 p.m. PST |
There's an entire book of them: Stewart Crowley's "Space Wreck". |
Little Big Wars | 06 Oct 2010 1:53 p.m. PST |
@Top Gun Ace Just as an aside, the Mos Eisley wreck is supposedly the Dowager Queen, the original colony ship that Mos Eisley was built up around. |

I like the one made in GW Red How to Make Terrain Book, which was also in an old white dwarf. It used the rebel transport playset as a cargo hold. I also liked the one created by Mongoose? using Justice League satelite playsets for their Starship Troopers table shown in their Starship Troopers Miniature Game Painting guide. |

CAPTAIN BEEFHEART | 06 Oct 2010 7:16 p.m. PST |
A friend of mine stuck one of the old saucer sections of the Enterprise into a terrain piece. It was used for Epic gaming. Very striking as well as good cover. |

We all know that third Pitch Black ship is a tilt-shift "reverse-forced-perspective" photo of the life size ship made to look like a mini, right? |
Little Big Wars | 06 Oct 2010 8:27 p.m. PST |
This is the proper Dowager Queen

Jakse375 | 06 Oct 2010 8:50 p.m. PST |
I don't have a pic but i always liked the battleship through a skyscraper shot from "Fist of the North Star".it would be even cooler with a starblazers style battleship sticking through it. |

"We all know that third Pitch Black ship is a tilt-shift "reverse-forced-perspective" photo of the life size ship made to look like a mini, right?" Well I can't speak for anybody else but -I- sure was aware of that. It is most definitely NOT a miniature! |

|
Sargonarhes | 30 Jul 2011 9:24 a.m. PST |
Here's a crash in progress. link Ok so there was nothing left after that one except a crater 100km across, kind of exaggerated maybe. Can never find a picture of the crashed SDF-1/ Macross when you want it. |
Sargonarhes | 31 Jul 2011 12:32 p.m. PST |
What happened to my link? It was a colony dropping. Well this link might not work either, but you don't get to see very much of all the ships crashed on Na Pali in the game Unreal. But it seems the Skaarj bring a lot of ships down on that little planet.
I didn't expect the image to show up like that however. |
