QUESTION: Some say 1/48, others say 1/72. So, if anyone has seen it, or has it, would 28mm-30mm figures look ok next to it?

I am actually planning on getting it, taking off the "tails", and making it a modern-day crashed UFO site, where my Griffin Greys can stage a rescue operation, interrupted by MIBs and US Military.

What do you think?

PS. This is a very, very long term project, so I will definitely be keeping track of posts weeks and months from now. Hopefully, I'll have something to report in return along the way. Thanks.

CC,
I am looking at one I have in a box, it's 1/48. I think 28mm might look ok next to it, 30mm might be pushing it. The actual figs of Gungans they have with it look like about 20mm scale to be honest. If you're looking for one I have mine still mint in box, never opened. PM me if you're interested.

See. Though the box seems to say 1/48, sites like this one (and on the links above) say 1/72:

I'm sooooo confused!!!

edit: the box says 1/48 is what I mean. Personally it looks 1/72 to me.

You know, I actually picked this up, and a bunch of other things as I was hoping to create a set of rules for a sci-fi submarine warfare game. Of course that never got done. That's neither here nor there, but I figured I'd spout out.

Pavelft: "I think 28mm might look ok next to it, 30mm might be pushing it."

So, they would probably not fit in with Griffin Greys (they are actually taller than 30mm). Too bad.

I guess I'll have to give this a bit more thought. I know I was thinking of Griffin Greys, and the Gungan sub seems to have a fluid (almost organic) look to it that would match well.

My Brigade Games aliens are smaller and might work, though the figures are too Roswell-like (Pulp-ish) for a Gungan Sub/UFO:

Any suggestions?

CC,
If you did some modding to the interior, pulled out the chairs, maybe put in your own 30mm might work. The ship would look like perhaps a small crashed fighter with tight cockpit space…

looks so positively X COM like

You might also want to try something like this, from Testors: link

Or the more 'traditional' Roswell variant: picture

I have the Testors models (both the Area 51 and Roswell ones), they are perfectly sized.

Another one that looks pretty good is the Glenco UFO.

It makes a nice small one man, er alien, fighter good for tabletop skirmish games.

Another one to look out for is the Lindberg ID4 Alien Fighter.

This is just under 10" long and beleivably looks about 1/48th scale as well. The cockpit windows really don't give it much of an idea, so you could easily pass it off as just about any scale you want.

Also, I'd look into redoing the cockpit of that Gungan sub to make it look like it could fit 1-2 28mm aliens instead. Of course you could also buy Copplestones or that Horrorclix alien grey which are shorter and have them pilot that ship.
