Don't know if Mr.BigRedBat is a forum member, but in these case I want to congratulate him for his work.

@Tango01 a.k.a. Armand a.k.a. Dr. Raùl Alberto de la Cruz:

Your posts seem enthusiastic, but you may not realize that many TMP members are probably already aware of many of the pages that you have linked to. And, if they are not, many of them should be able to find the same content by doing their own web searches.

Also, BigRedBat is a TMP member, which you could simply have discovered with a search of TMP, either by author or through Google.

Instead of making daily (hourly?) posts of links to other people's content, how about either linking to some of your own content through your posts here on TMP or setting up your own webpage ("gatway"?) or blog of links to other people's sites?

GarrisonMiniatures30 Jun 2010 11:39 p.m. PST

But then, many others may not be aware. Same with lots of the news items we all post. One thing about doing a web search is that you know you should be doing it.

And is 99 posts in 15 days all that excessive? Average 6.6 a day? My own average is over 3 a day, OFM hits 18 a day.

What a good blog! ;-)

Seriously, though, Ancient Discussion is not the best place to post links to blogs which are mainly about painting.

Cheers, Simon

Perhaps, but this posting was about a nice looking elephant, and chances are I wouldn't have noticed it on the painting pages. This particular post I would say was worthwhile. If all the posts are like this, no problems from me. I would agree with some of the comments on:

But that is a different matter.

Grizwald01 Jul 2010 2:44 a.m. PST

"Instead of making daily (hourly?) posts of links to other people's content, how about either linking to some of your own content through your posts here on TMP"

I suggested that to him a while ago, but he seemed to take it as an insult.

"or setting up your own webpage ("gatway"?) or blog of links to other people's sites?"

Excellent idea! How about it Armand?

Ah … pity you can't see this post …

Marshal Mark01 Jul 2010 4:39 a.m. PST

It does seem that Armand has a bit of a obsession with searching the net for other peoples work and posting links to it on here.
And I'd say 99 posts in 15 days was high (especially for someone new to a forum), but it's the content of the posts that is the issue. If those posts were asking questions or adding to discussions, then that would be OK.
And what is very high is his stifle count, which shows that a lot of people don't want to see this sort of post.

<unstifle. Read>

Mike, for a man who blindly refuses to find himself at fault when he makes people so angry they break the forum rules and get DH'ed, you are remarkably intolerant of other people's annoying little foibles.

Armand is breaking no rules. That means he can keep on doing what he is doing. You on the other hand appear to be pursuing each thread and commenting nastily about it. That is against the Forum Rules. Beware!

<Stifle>

Sane Max01 Jul 2010 4:42 a.m. PST

Mark, you think 9 is high?

Look at me! Look at the Snorbens!

Pat

Marshal Mark01 Jul 2010 4:58 a.m. PST

His stifle ratio (posts per stifle) is 12. That's much higher than either of you stifle kings !

Grizwald01 Jul 2010 5:29 a.m. PST

"Armand is breaking no rules. That means he can keep on doing what he is doing."

You are correct, he is not breaking any rules. He is perfectly entitled to post what he does. But more and more people are finding this annoying, as Marshal Mark says.

"You on the other hand appear to be pursuing each thread and commenting nastily about it."

My only post on this thread was to agree with the comments of another poster. How is that "commenting nastily"?

Also, there are several threads initiated by Armand that I have not commented on:

to name only some.

You on the other hand appear to be hounding ME from thread to thread and making personal attacks.

Lee Brilleaux Fezian01 Jul 2010 6:28 a.m. PST

Snark content rises. Pot calls kettle black. Stifle ratios are compared like bikers showing off tattoos.

I was happy to see Simon's excellent elephants, which I may well have missed the first time round!

Two pots can play that game Snorbens – threads last coupla days where you post and I don't – notice how many of them include a snide jab at Armand.

Now, please just control your ire. If Bill doesn't like what Armand is doing I am sure he will stop him.

Nice elephant BTW armand.

You said:
"You on the other hand appear to be pursuing each thread and commenting nastily about it."

"Each thread" implies all of them. This is clearly not the case.

BigRedBat's elephants are excellent.

GarrisonMiniatures01 Jul 2010 9:19 a.m. PST

Yes, some people do stifle him. Look at the comments on the posts above – mostly, the people commenting are giving positive comments. The posts seem to be spread over lots of boards – though Napoleonics seem to feature a lot in the ones above – so he isn't dominating boards.

The guy is producing a lot of threads that are, at worst, harmless, at best interesting. Give him a break.

"The guy is producing a lot of threads that are, at worst, harmless, at best interesting. Give him a break."

Flemish weavers don't produce as many threads.

Say you're a child out shopping with your mother and you're in a department store. While mother is trying to concentrate on shopping, you keep pointing at random objects and shouting "look at this!" or picking things up and thrusting them into her face and shouting "look at this!". All you're doing is trying to get attention, and sooner or later mother is going to gently admonish you to refrain from such unseemly behaviour whilst wrenching your ear off the side of your head to emphasise her point.

I wouldn't accept this kind of behaviour from a child, so why should I accept it from an adult?

GarrisonMiniatures01 Jul 2010 2:29 p.m. PST

I'll let you nip across to the BF and tell Terrement then.

Flat Beer and Cold Pizza01 Jul 2010 7:54 p.m. PST

@Terrement,

Thanks. I appreciate your point of view and your advice. However, since I'm not a member of the Fez I can't equate your posts there to those of Armand on this forum.

Tom

My sentiments exactly.

If this is what you want TMP to become, then good luck.
