PS. Of course, with that title, it is really going to make online searches all the more difficult. I kinda like one of the names I heard a while ago: "Yautja"

Despite a touching role in The Pianist, I can't stand Adrian Brody. I hope he gets killed in the first act.

NYCJadie,

Agreed!

CSI A vs P?

Is Sara Sidel in it?

Is this what really happened when Sara and Grissim went to Costa Rica?

Well – at least I can dust off those Copplestone Hunter Aliens (with guns)

mweaver15 Mar 2010 8:31 p.m. PST

Looks promising. I quite liked the first one and the second was decent.

Gailbraithe Games15 Mar 2010 8:36 p.m. PST

I read some things online about this movie and it looks very promising. The director and producers seem to know what they are talking about and want to get back to what made the first one so excellent, and Brody seems to have really gotten into his character and should give an interesting performance.

I really think the key to making great B-movies is to treat them like A-movies. Get real actors, like Brody, and real directors with clear vision. One of the producers at Fox said they wanted this reboot of Predator to have the same feel of a director's "vision" that Nolan's Batman films have, which means that it sounds like someone in Hollywood finally gets it.

I was so excited about this movie last night I bought one of the clear resin INAPs (Not-Predators) from Old Crow.

Well I hope they do a good job of it, and really get the rage of Predators going again, I would love to see more and better predator movies. Maybe something different then hunting humans or "Aliens".

Chuckaroobob15 Mar 2010 9:22 p.m. PST

brace yourself!!!

The cast list actually isn't that bad!

I just wish they'd develop some of the graphic novels into full films, some of those could actually hold their own as a full film.

Pole Bitwy PL16 Mar 2010 3:07 a.m. PST

There is going to be a Predator dog… Shocking ! As if they need weapons to kill humans.

? What would you like to see? An all Predator cast for "Two Gentlemen from Verona" or perhaps a remake of "Friends"?

War Monkey16 Mar 2010 11:43 a.m. PST

Yeah I would like to see something like a hand full of Predators hunting something bigger nastier and more dangerous where some of the predators don't make it, maybe something that like to eat them or craves their taste. Like a ritual rite of passage to whatever the next level in their society is. AVP might be for the juniors what would be the next level of the hunt?

Perhaps they can do Hamlet, with the Predhamlet holding up Predyorick's skull for the big speech and then remembering that it was he himself that removed it from its owner. grin

The first pred movie was schlock, but it was jolly fun schlock. It shot its proverbial wad in the first movie. Everything from there has been fanboy dreck. The shame of it is that it sullied the Alien franchise as well, although resurrection was a real blow even without the fanboy matchup.

Weaver discussed the Alien franchise with Cameron and also with Scott, and they all lamented how it had been dragged through the mud by the AvP linkup. They are actually talking about rebooting that franchise as well, although as a prequel, so presumably not with Weaver.

War Monkey16 Mar 2010 12:27 p.m. PST

Something in here must be worthy of hunting, otherwise it wouldn't be in the trophy room. picture I hope they don't bore us to death with AvP

Sargonarhes18 Mar 2010 8:13 a.m. PST

I don't know, from what I've heard the planet is a gladiatorial arena stocked by the Yautja for fun and entertainment. This didn't sound like normal Yautja practice, but the planet being a game preserve rather than a gladiatorial arena sounds better. This was done in the book Forever Midnight where the writer showed he had no prior knowledge to anything Predator related. Giving them a completely different name and biology altogether from what has already been established.

Only question left is did the humans come to this planet or did the Yautja bring them there?

War Monkey18 Mar 2010 8:52 a.m. PST

From the sound of it, they brought them there, Big Game Hunters and Assassins/Hitmen along with the tools of their trade

Eli Arndt19 Mar 2010 9:32 a.m. PST

I am hoping this movies is one of those that comes in and pulls the franchise back from the edge. We've seen it with other franchises before.

FalloutLeader08 Jul 2010 8:27 a.m. PST

Well i wont watch it because of rodriguez and a little movie he made called Machete i hope it does not do well.

It's worse than that. At one point Scott and Cameron had discussed making an Alien film jointly, Scott directing, Cameron writing, which would see the aliens make it to Earth. Imagine it: marines in pitched battles with aliens on the streets of Bladerunner-style SF cities…

When they approached the studios with their ideas, they were basically told "No ta – we've got AvP in the works."

* sigh *

jdeleonardis08 Jul 2010 11:11 a.m. PST

Are there any game systems or specific scenarios that would make for a good Predator like game? Like, one figure vs a team?

Lion in the Stars08 Jul 2010 11:46 a.m. PST

The Spyrer Hunters from Necromunda are pretty close to Preds. If you ran an advanced Spyrer against a starting gang of others it might work.

So the flick this afternoon – much more like the 1st and a good movie to game.

KTravlos10 Jul 2010 7:25 p.m. PST

First 2/3rds were good. Last third not so. Could had been a lot better. I enjoyed the acting.
