On another thread I was asked: "Now to CC, where to get Caribs and Arawaks?"

Believe it or not, I have been converting lots of Foundry Darkest Africa natives (naked and in loincloths) to play the part:

DA 7/5 will be the chiefs (feathers will be yellow and green, as with the Caribbean parrots I saw a few months ago).

I have been adding long hair, short and long macanas, recovered morions, javelins, recovered Spanish shields, etc. to over 70 of those Africans. I think you will be pleased. I will take photos of them before I apply paint, so you can see the before and after.

This is what I want mine to look like when I'm done:

My nephew had a smaller pile of these, so he has already painted some:

The other gamer in our group (ElCid1099) has done an even better job at painting his Africans-turned-Arawaks:

The Copplestone Amazonians and Botocudos look nice on the site, but I have not ordered them yet. I want to first make a dent on what I already have.

In some encounters, my Caribs/Tainos will have these 57 Cimarrones as allies against the Spanish:

I think we're gonna need a bigger table. :)

This is what one of the chiefs in DA 7/5 can look like, given the right accessories and paint:

I hope that my combined forces of Arawaks/Tainos/Caribs (natives) and Cimarrones (runaways) can produce THIS EXACT reaction on the 16th Century Spanish we will be using:

In case anyone would like a map of the Caribbean tribes (c1492):

Dan, send me your and Elcids photos by e-mail and I will get Neil to put them on the Feathered serpent site, we want as many different Conquest figures as possible and yours are beauties

Skeptic12 Jul 2007 7:27 p.m. PST

@CC: Good idea! I am planning to convert some into Southeast Asian tribals.

@LTD: What is your site's URL?

Cheers,

Skeptic

Does anyone have any suggestions as to figures in 15mm that could be used for Caribs and Arawaks, etc.? In that scale I prefer not to do conversions.

Thanks, Dennis

Hello Skeptic, I am at work but if you look on the message board for Bovington Seige of Tenochtitlan, Drop Neil -Troop of Shewe a line and we can get your Pictures on the page :)

Dennis, check out Micky Yarrow miniatures MY Miniatures, they have Powhatan indians and other natives galore

Cacique Caribe14 Jul 2007 11:11 a.m. PST

Lowtardog,

No problem. I am checking with ElCid1099 and my nephew to see if it is ok to share those, and to see if they have more photos of them too.

I will get you my photos later tonight.

Who knows . . .

Maybe my Tainos/Caribs will join the Cimarrones and attack this:

Anyone know how tall these Mithril "Druedain" ("Wose") figures are?

My Caribs and the Cimarrones will definitely benefit from the Fortress Figures skulls:

The Ethiopians are they cast with the shields attached?

Lowtardog20 Aug 2007 3:25 p.m. PST

Gray ghost, dont forget you can actually get the 2 Cimaroon packs form foundry 1 with hand weapons and one with bows, that would give you a start. Eureka also have some Mamelukos in their portuguese range (check chronofus forum for portuguese) these were black slave soldiers.

Cacique Caribe20 Aug 2007 10:30 p.m. PST

Gray Ghost,

No. The BTD Ethiopians are free to hold any shield you wish, or to go shieldless.

The two on the left here are BTD Ethiopians:

link

The one on the foreground on the left has been left without a shield. The one behind him has been given a very plain round African-looking shield.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to try to get the Foundry ones.
What is the name of them for when I call?
Thanks

Cacique Caribe21 Aug 2007 7:37 p.m. PST

Gray Ghost,

Do you mean the Foundry ones in the first post?

I'm not sure the African renegade/Cimaroon figures from Foundry

"I'm not sure the African renegade/Cimaroon figures from Foundry"

Could you re-state the comment or question? Thanks.

ravachol12 Sep 2007 5:07 a.m. PST

any of you had gunpower weaponnery to theyr cimarons ?
or pieces of armor and pikes ?
or horsemen ?

not to say a small saker …

Lowtardog12 Sep 2007 3:39 p.m. PST

I know CC has added in Morions

Cacique Caribe13 Sep 2007 2:53 a.m. PST

If you are asking about the Cimaroon figures pictured here . . .

They are officially called "El Dorado Afro-Caribbian Renegades" (spelling is theirs, not mine). There are only 2 packs, but you get one of each of 8 exquisite poses of archers and 8 of mixed weapons warriors.

The packs are ED9 and ED10:I believe ED9 has mixed weapons, while ED10 has the archers. Double-check when you call.

Hope this helps.

CC,

You have inspired me to revisit some old Reviresco 28mm African tribals I had laying about. I am converting them into a Hollywood style cross between castaways, cargo cultists, and cannibals.
