I found the above "1202 AD" vampire helmets and some of the armor similar to this:

Did anyone else notice the similarity?

I am thinking conversions!!!

The plastic boxed set might be a cheaper option for head swaps (particularly on ebay).

wow it does look like they got LotR surplus.

Actually, I think a lot of the armour was made by a Canadian company, Valentine Armouries. Here is a link to their Underworld page:

I purchased a steel buckler from them which I use in rapier and medival combat and it's about all I can afford from them, but they do beautiful stuff.

They are very similar in style

They would work fine as stand ins. I thought the same thing.

Those <<medieval vampires>> look very much like these:

They do look like the Gondor cavalrymen.

Yes, With the Barbute helms and plate mail, they do look Gondorian… Hmmmm, i have a pile of those laying around… time for a Vampire uprising… pardon the pun..

Horrors! On that page, I noticed that Uwe Bol is making Dungeon Seige. Blah:( I can't believe they are letting this guy make another movie.

You are right. With a little bit of "horse-hair", the Gondorian knights would work beautifully.

Has anyone tried this since the discussion? If so, any positive results?

Ok. Got the Gondorian Knight boxed set:

However, after looking at them, I think they need head-swaps with Elves:

I think they are going to look nice though!

Here's a nice clip showing that interesting armor:

That video clip really shows a lot of detail in the armor and helmets.

QUESTION: If one was to choose a 28mm-30mm range instead of the smaller GW LOTR figures, what would you suggest?

Though the prequel concept is appealling, I can't say I care for the armor in the new Underworld movie (Rise of the Lycans) . . .

Planned for January 2009.

Great candidates here, for those doing 15mm:
