Yesterday, forty-two days after I'd been charged for an order, and it still hadn't arrived, I asked Stephen Mussared of Monolith Designs to refund the price of my order. He says he's going to process my refund today. And, furthermore, that the order's still in the mail, and could I get a hold of him, so, that he could re-charge me when it arrives!? No doupt, he mailed it yesterday, or today, and it'll arrive in a couple of weeks!

If from overseas, maybe it's held up in customs? (Sorry, haven't been following the saga).

I ordered from Steve a while back, and did get my order eventually. I was (overall) satisfied with the transaction, but it did feel like it took a long time to arrive.

Here's my problem:

And here's the resolution:

Good luck! His products are excellent!

John N Holly, after reviewing other posts in regards to Monolith Designs, it seems clear that Stephen Mussared blames a lot of "package-goes-missing-incidents" on a lot of different "possible" circumstances… I don't really care what happened, or why, whether he did, or didn't send my package… as long as he follows through on his promise to refund the price of my order, I'll be satisfied.

Ostegrenadier – I think your posting is a little bit unfair, and two faced, when compared to our own email exchange – Sadly Canada is one of the 3 countries in the world that does not accept the fully trackable service Airsure – so we have to use an inferior product. Your order was despatched just prior to the terrorist attempts here in the UK. Canadian customs are notoriously stringent, and I did tell you to expect some delays – and replied to all of your emails, and offered a complete refund when it was asked for. I am not sure what else I could have done

Here is the email transaction

Steve. I don't know whether or not to laugh or be angry! Forty-two days (7 August) ago you charged my credit card for my order, forty-two days ago, man! And, the order isn't here, yet? In that time I've made (2) separate orders to Ral Partha Europe, and (1) order to Prince August, all, of those orders were placed after I placed an order with you, and all of them arrived promptly. So, I don't beleive that your suggestion that it's Canada Customs fault that the order hasn't arrived has much merit. Honestly, I no longer believe that the order I placed with you is coming. I've no idea what happened, whether you sent it, or didn't, and, actually, that isn't my problem, my problem is that you've charged my credit card for products that haven't materialized. I want you to refund my money immediately. Get back to me in the next twenty-four hours. I definitely don't want to have to report the money as stolen to my credit card company, but I assure you that I will, if, this matter isn't resolved promptly. Sincerely, Steve Reiber

My Reply

Hi Steve
Sorry you feel that way. I will process a refund today, and you can let me know when your package arrives, and I will re-charge the card
Regards Steve

His reply:

Will do, buddy.

Charles Marlow20 Sep 2006 7:01 a.m. PST

Stephen Mussared, you definately didn't mention that there would be a significant delay when I placed an order with you.Two faced? Name calling? Look, I gave you money via a credit card transaction, I waited, and waited, and you didn't come across with what I'd payed for… why would't I be annoyed? What's hard to understand about that? Why wouldn't I post a complaint where other people who collect minis could see it? And, furthermore, I now stand among the elite few who've had their mini order go missing because of "terrorist threat"…

Manolito20 Sep 2006 7:50 a.m. PST

Ostgrenadier – How on earth would I know in advance if there was going to be a delay?. I sent you 2 emails regarding the delay, and when you asked for a refund, I processed it straight away. Yes I think the tone of your post here is two-faced in comparison to the tone of our own private conversation before you posted here.

Here are the emails I sent to you about the delay:

29/08/06
Hi Steve
Canada is one of the 3 countries (along with Italy and Australia) that doesn't allow the Airsure service – I have no idea why, the rest of the world is very happy with it – but there you go. The only tracking they will allow is if it has reached Canadian customs, and when it is signed for.
Sometimes the packages clear customs quickly – sometimes they don't. Not much help I know – but that is all I have
Regards Steve

Hi Steve
I have had a word with Royal Mail, and they have agreed to have a friendly word with their Canadian counterparts to see what the problem is.
They said it is probably Customs clearance – anything else and it would have either been returned to me, or you would have got it by now
Regards Steve

Charles Marlow20 Sep 2006 11:22 a.m. PST

Stephen Mussared, post 29/08/06 is twenty-two days after you charged me for the order. That's a significant amount of time after-the-fact to inform me of possible shipping delays. And, in fact, you didn't volunteer any information in advance when I placed the order in regards to possible shipping delays, I had to email you, and ask for an explaination as to the delay. Tone? Two-faced? That's entirely a subjective matter… My posts have been objective in their content.

aecurtis Fezian20 Sep 2006 11:56 a.m. PST

Oh, for Pete's sake. If you'd been on TMP a little longer, you would surely know that it's a common complaint among Canadian buyers that Canadian Customs holds up packages. It's not the vendor's fault, and it's not the vendor's responsibility to tell you that your government will cause problems for you.

Steve, you should name and shame this person, so other vendors won't have to put up with his timewasting.

Steve Reiber, apparently, from further up the thread.

I'd have to side with Monolith on this one, 'Ostgrenadier', Steve, whoever he is, comes off snarly and argumentative at the least. If I were a seller, I'd think twice about selling anything to somebody with that kind of attitude.

When I've had problems with orders, I'm happy to take my money elsewhere, rather than acting out on TMP. But that's me, I remember the proverb; 'Better to keep quiet and be thought a **** than to speak up and prove it.'

Charles Marlow20 Sep 2006 12:59 p.m. PST

I've received a package from the Royal Mail dated as sent 14/09/06, thirty-eight days after I was initial charged for payment. I will gladly pay for it: 1 Mullers Walker. Stephen Mussared, please, re-charge my credit card for 1 muller's walker.

Manolito20 Sep 2006 2:21 p.m. PST

Ostgrenadier – thanks for posting the confirmation of reciept of the Walker. That was a replacement I sent out last week by regular airmail, and not requiring a signature, after your email on the 13/09/06.

As far as I am concerned you have redeemed yourself with the above post, and you know where our yahoo group is should you care to return

Charles Marlow20 Sep 2006 2:46 p.m. PST

Manolito, your comments are much more generous than I deserve. I ——ed up royally, and I'm sorry. I hope that in the future I can overcome my self-created, and well deserved reputation as selfish, nasty, ——. I've been publicly shamed, and it's no less than I deserve. Your offer to re-join the yahoo group is extraordinarily generous, and is a testement to your good character, but I'm too ashamed to do so. I didn't think I'd ever end-up as "that guy"… sorry, all-the-best, Steve reiber

Manolito20 Sep 2006 2:51 p.m. PST

The offer is open ended – and as I said you have totally redeemed yourself.

There is nothing at all stopping you joining under a different name if you prefer

altfritz20 Sep 2006 5:02 p.m. PST

A bit late as the matter seems resolved, but I just received a package I ordered in July from the UK. I am in Kingston, ON.

And Canada Customs stomped on it – as if the delay was not enough!
