Does anyone know where to find 28mm Mameluks for an Austerlitz scenario? Most all my figs are Foundry and Front Rank – I can not find Mameluks in 28mm – not even with Old Glory which would never match with Front Rank anyhow! |

Take a look at Essex, the horses are very nice, and riders are ok, and they will mix with foundry and front rank well |

Eureka does some 28mm Mamelukes but as I have not seen them I don't know whether they match Foundry or Front Rank. link |

The Eureka Mamelukes are average at best (this is no refelction on Eureka as most of what they do is great stuff). Also, they are not Guard Mamalukes. I'm going to hold out until Alan Perry does a set as he's the only sculptor who would be able to do the Mamelukes any justice in 28 mm!! |

Yes, I looked at the Mameluks on the Eureka site and they are not Guards. Then, I guess, Essex are the only company out there that makes 28mm Mameluks – very hard to believe – but seemingly true - |

Britania does some. They might be too larger, but might fit with Foundry. I think Firing line did some, but I am not 100%. |

bicorne are currently the best mamelukes on the market, they will match ok with FR |

I will take your word for it that Bicorne are the best – but I wish they had a picture on their site |

There are also two or three figures from the old Hinchliffe range that are OK. I have a squadron of them and they are quite nice, if not a little dated. |

I did ask Front Rank some time ago if they had any plans to produce Mamelukes but they didn't think there would be much demand especially as the unit size would be small. front Rank woudl be my preferred route if they were available. Time to put in your requests to them ! |

There are a couple in the connoisseur range- Incidentaly, some of the finest conversions I've ever seen are based on these figures- Mike Ingham at the WHC owns them- a unit of about 12 figs, all completely different, individual heads, horse conversions, brass wire horse furniture, exquistely painted- all from a couple of basic castings cheers chris |

I will take your word for it that Bicorne are the best – but I wish they had a picture on their site Yes they are doing themselves quite a financial disservice by NOT using pix of models for sale. Take note. d |

Gringo 40s are lovely and will fit the bill for what you want, they also have a full band which is excuisite. link as for earlier Revolutionary Miniatures have some in the pipeline I believe.

I am a huge fan of the Gringos40 mamelukes. Until their Hue range, some of the best figures in any range, for any subject, frankly. The Austerlitz look was more like the Egypt Campaign look and less like the more formal "uniform" we all know so well. I did convert two using the plastic Mahdist figures from Perrys (a treasure trove for anyone into conversions) TMP link TMP link
