en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kroot I have always liked these guys and they would fit nicely as Venusian Birdmen. In fact I was visualizing the Kroot, Bronze Age's wasteland mutants, and 500 nations indians on the same table
( link ) sticking it top the Queen's troopers. |

Yea, there are a couple of people on the board that have converted them into 4 armed VSF creatures. |

Venus is inhabited by both lizardmen and the parrot people in the highlands, so the Kroot are perfect for that setting. |

Venus is inhabited by both lizardmen and the parrot people in the highlands, so the Kroot are perfect for that setting. Agreed, but don't forget the degenerate Martian colonists in the deep swamps. Venus wouldn't be the same without tentacular brain-suckers. :) |

It's not just you-- I've been considering them for that role for ages. I need to finish all my Red and Green Martians first, though! |

Venus is inhabited by both lizardmen and the parrot people in the highlands, so the Kroot are perfect for that setting. I really should apologise for that. I kicked off the whole Parrotmen of Venus thing (and their lowland lizardmen antagonists)several years ago on the GASLIGHT group and it's become somewhat of a phenomenon. It's a little embarrasing to admit that although I've used them I've never gotten around to painting them. Which means that there are several Parrotmen forces out there that put mine to shame (although I doubt anyone has more). I'll have to rectify that!

Which means that yes, Kroot make great Venusians! |

Hey I thought Kroot were Venusians! That's were all mine came from. I intend to crush Patrick's punny lizards into so much luggage as soon as he has the time to come and fight! As ever, Hairy |

I've got some Kroot conversions up on my site. A few other conversions I've been working on in a Barsoomian vein. link Mike |

I've used 'kroot' torsos and legs and even arms sets with 'Mantis assassin bug heads' from SST/Mongoose, and some 'nid claw arms' for one
Link: link I've also used 'green clone/epoxy copies' of heads from Brigade Grey aliens and SST 'skinnies'..(for primative skinnies or 'parrot men' and 'cloned' heads from several other sci-fi figures on kroot bodies. Mixing krrot and tau torsos and legs and 'nid bits with kitbashed 'heads' offers a LOT of options and I'm working on some now as '4-armed' martian/alien types
among others
I've found the kroot/tau/nid 'bits' (along with making green 'expoxy' molds off some other figures for 'alt heads' one of the cheapest/fastest and coolest ways to get a LOT of 'variety' in your 'aliens/fantasy critters' for the 'buck'
and it's really FUN too
I hope to have more images of other 'varients' on my dp mini site shortly
but don't forget to try using some old D*D heads/body parts
etc along with kroot/tau/nid bits
for even MORE/inexpensive 'variety'!!! *slish

COOL! more 'buggy heads' for use with Kroot! I've 'cloned' grey heads from Brigade (two types) and Griffin 'grey' heads
also for use with Kroot bodies and tau bodies and alternated 'nid arms' etc
in mix n' match kitbashing! First of all
I DO recommend that you get a set of the 'original' Brigade Greys, and Griffin, (if you can get them) and several other 'greys'/aliens etc
from the pulp/sf mfgs listed among all these posts/links. I just like picking up extra boxes of 'kroot' and other 'bits' (like from GW or warstore or mongoose or???) to mix and match for 'generic kit-bashing' aliens and VSF stuff
Kroot legs/torsos
mix and match well with a lot of different figures/series and even 'double-torsos' for GREEN-martian types
among many others. I wish I had a better camera to show more of my 'mix and match' conversions
but if you get the parts, (kroot torsos, legs, nid claw arms and tau bits) and then mix the other 'heads'/arms and just try out different heads
you'll be amazed at what you can come up with fairly easily! In fact, just assemble a couple of kroot with 'regular arms' and a couple with the nid claw arms, put a pin for the head/neck and drill holes in the bottom of 'head candidates'
(from tendril feeder head to mantis assassin bug head to lizard head
)
and like an old 'cootie' game
other THINGS will come to mind and if you've got the parts set out in 'assembly line form'
boxes of arms, heads, torsos, accessories, bases and some glue and epoxy
ooooh, what FUN!!! *slish
