Does anyone know where I could find miniatures that would allow some scenarios? Raid on the treasure vaults (Lt. Werper's return) Rescue of Professor Porter and some others.

I'd need La of Opar, the priestesses and the "gorilla-like males" plus some arthropodal apes. Any good scenery buildings would be a nice bonus.

Thanks in advance,
Mugwump

I'll be interested to learn about these, too. Ooh, La is dead sexy! Tarzan was a fool to spurn her!

I'd guess that Egyptian-style buildings and ruins would work well for Opar. Try local pet store chains for large aquarium decor — I've found great Greco-Roman, Egyptian, and Oriental pieces there for excellent bargain prices.

Bronze Age does a nice Dejah Thoris that could double for La n.p.

I recommend Foundry Nubian nobility as very nice Lost City tyes.
The wedding department in craft stores or WalMart have very nice Greek columns for wedding cakes.

These are some of the responses I got when I asked that question:

Hey fellas,

Just wondering . . . is there a ERB wargaming Yahoo group? All these images, and the maps I found could be part of the group's reference sections.

Seems there are plenty who appreciate the ERB characters, as depicted in the novels:

The Gold Key comics adaptation of "Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar" by Russ Manning (?) c. 1966 was among my earliest comic books, certainly my first exposure to ERB's Tarzan. I still love these, and Queen La in these created an enduring mental image.

CC,

The only appropriate response would be,

Oo-la-LA!

It would be great if someone made human-ape male hybrids, in something like Egyptian, Nubian or Minoan-like attire, wouldn't it?

Why not more figures like this guy?

For an interesting alternate option:

I think I might end up going with these fellows after all:

Their poses are very ape-like. A little Greenstuff might do the trick.

These are a couple of Opar book covers I had not seen before:

I know one of these Tarzan cartoons also had an episode or two about Opar:
