Hi Can anyone help me with who carried what infantry battalions/regiments flag/s in the Austrian army around the time of Wagram in 1809? Did Battalions carry one or two flags at this time? Did they all just carry one Ordinarfahne? Who carried the Leibfahne? Jagers didn't have flags? Landwehr carried only Ordinarfahne? cheers |

The number of flags was reduced to one per battalion in 1808. The 1st btn usually carried the Leibfahne but it has been suggested that the senior grenadiers in the combined grenadiers took their leifahne. @ Roundie Suggest you utilize the TMP search engine for what has been posted already. I 2nd Keithbarker and the wonderful Blounders on the Danube blog. If you are "annal" as I am, you can research the regiments from 1805 on and estimate which ones may have the early 1792, which ones may have had the limited addition 1804 and which ones have the 1806 issue. Here are some earlier TMP post to get started. TMP link and TMP link Happy hunting MG |
