(NOTE: My cross-posting was intentional. I think that fans from each of those genres might possess unique insights and offer suggestions that might end up being very useful for this topic)

In the 2006 film "Altered" they hunted down alien Greys driving around in a truck and a van, and using crossbows, bear traps and basic firearms, and having an auto repair garage as their home base:

However, if YOU were going to have a team of Rednecks make a career of hunting Greys (imagine witch hunters but sillier), what other type of tools and vehicles do you think they would come up with?

Jed Clampett's old truck seems appropriate.

An AMC Pacer for a car (you know the one, e.g. the fishbowl on wheels – great with those big windows, for maintain situational awareness all around).

Surely, those must be fairly inexpensive on the resale market.

ATV, dirt bike
molotov cocktail, bowie knife, axe/hachet, compound bow

I have no idea where this photo really originates, but I thought it looked too cool to pass up:

PS. After all, rednecks, farmers and hillbillies do seem to be our first line of defense:

That is a neat photo!

Spearguns and crossbows, for silent attacks.

advocate08 Apr 2017 1:41 a.m. PST

Silent attacks? Greys got ears?

MHoxie08 Apr 2017 2:25 a.m. PST

Hounds, shovels, exploding propane tanks…

bsrlee08 Apr 2017 4:45 a.m. PST

Maybe a .70/150/300 Winchester (looks like an 1888 Winchester lever action shotgun, but rifled) or a .75 T Rex rifle for starters. Reach out and touch them and make sure they know they have been touched.

An Oxford Dictionary and Thesaurus?

A couple of jugs of moonshine.

Who says guns and alcohol don't go together?

Must be a yankee……..

Gotta have it on hand to help maintain morale.

Sticks of dynamite too, most likely.

leidang08 Apr 2017 7:05 a.m. PST

Even rednecks have the internet today and access to all modern equipment. They would probably look a lot like military contractors.

thosmoss08 Apr 2017 7:26 a.m. PST

Gotta have a representative from Alcohol, Tobacco, AND Firearms. What a cool bureau to be in charge of the best stuff!

Sling-shot with appropriate missile ammo.

AR-15s and AK-47s. Small backpack/knapsack. Large flashlights or night vision devices. Perhaps some IEDs, such as a cluster bomb of the small propane canisters used for portable camping stoves. Improvised canon (similar to ISIS made) that fires the larger propane canisters. Assorted hunting weapons including over & under shotgun.

Shotguns – pump and/or double-barreled.
Huntin' rifle (30-06). Possibly with scope.
Handguns – revolvers for the traditional minded, automatics for them new-fangled types.
Hunting knives and/or hatchets
Composite bows and crossbows (Bow hunting is a "thing", you know).
Big guy with a chainsaw, 'cause you know what other genre can be played with one…
Beer – cans or long necks.
Large pickup truck, probably jacked up. May or may not have a food/doors. Definitely has lights up on the rollbar.

And that's just thinking of the people that live around me…

Redmenace08 Apr 2017 12:26 p.m. PST

Compound bow and arrows with lit sticks of dynamite tied to them. A skilled archer can fire one of these while doing an of the ramp barrel roll from a 1969 Dodge Charger.

Zephyr108 Apr 2017 2:42 p.m. PST

Yer great-great-grandpa's .45-90 buffalo rifle (if you live in the Plains states.) Gar-awn-teed to stop the biggest critters (and if not, they'll have a really bad headache & a big dent in their forehead.) Can also make those pesky UFO's ring like a Notre Dame Cathedral bell when hit… ;-)

capncarp09 Apr 2017 6:20 a.m. PST

"Beer – cans or long necks. "
Both, 'cause you can make molotovs out of empty longnecks, and the cans can get ya forty cents a pound down at the recycling center.

War Monkey09 Apr 2017 7:01 a.m. PST

I forgot that Khurasan's rednecks could make for good survivors in a P.A. world, whether it from aliens or zombie to even Graboids.

RTJEBADIA10 Apr 2017 6:14 a.m. PST

Honestly painting up Rebel Minis contractors in commercial hunting camo would probably be the most realistic, but have at it ;)

I don;t know. I have about 100 Guns of all flavors and about 30K rounds spread across several calibers. So an eclectic mix. Most likely it would be AR's and hand guns.

An AMC Pacer for a car (..with those big windows, ..all around).
It felt like YOU were the hood ornimant, the window was so large.

First, convince the "Greys" the Pacer was a secret weapon they just had to have. Perfect target, we'd never miss one.

BUT, IF all else failed, round up a "herd of Ins. Agents" and turn'm loose.
I know, its cruel.. but "This is war boys!"

It looks like people already have a blast playing the theme in 28mm:

I wonder how many have run similar games with their 15mm figures.

PS. @Part Time Gamer: "A herd of Ins. Agents"
Insurance? Or did you mean IRS? :)

I did find someone who has given it a try in 15mm:

The residents of Kelly, Ky. when I visited a few years back could be distinguished more by age than clothing. Jeans and plaid for the older gentry, the women-folk dressed not too differently. Clean white pick-up trucks towing empty trailers, (I never did figure that one out). They all have dogs. Lots of them and by and large for some unknown reason hate cats.

The younger crowd straight from the meth lab could be seen driving muscle cars in various states of disrepair. Long hair and dirty plastic Asian made one-size-fits-all ball caps, in fashion since the 70s are still haute couture. Tattoos are a must. High tobacco use. Empty beer cans in the back of every vehicle and gun racks are a must. Whether it's a buck, a cat or a grey, they appeared ready to shoot it and trailer it.

>This could be their roving dissection "lab"<

I still borrow from "731" and use a rail car. There is always a spur of track around and in Kelly, the tracks went right past the Sutton farm house.

They need coonhounds:

Redbone
Bluetick
Black and tan

Any self respecting redneck has several.

Non-working washing machine on the porch. Plus a non-working refrigerator in the yard as well!

Cacique Caribe27 Apr 2017 5:59 a.m. PST

Lol. Maybe that's the washing machine they'll use to "brainwash" the aliens?

And maybe the refrigerator doesn't cool, but might have been converted into some sort of torture/interrogation chamber? Or to keep the Aliens from sending out telepathic messages to their friends.

Dan. :)

War Monkey27 Apr 2017 2:54 p.m. PST

Most likely the refrigerator was turned a meat smoke of sorts.

Any weapon that would blast them stink'n aliens back to where they came from !!!! Works for me !

Cacique Caribe25 Jan 2018 11:45 p.m. PST

True! If the aliens are man-sized slugs, all you need is a couple of buckets of salt.

Dan
PS. I guess "know your enemy" can help us focus only on what works.

As long as you are killing the enemy, no matter what the method. Is a good thing … evil grin
