Okay so does anyone make 15mm modern sailors that are armed, I know Eureka Miniature make 15mm armed WWII sailors and they could work, I 'm just hoping for something more modern.

Head swaps might be the way to go. Peter Pig does two sets of sailor hats (one for WW1 Russians and one in WW2)and also does a stiff peaked cap which might do for officers in the WW1 section.

I guess what I'm really looking for would be figures with the right headgear which would be with ball cap or the eight point cap much like the Marine Corp work cover.

Looking at Peter Pigs head swap options I could get away with WWII French Kepi.

Or I could go with Peter Pigs "Professional" forces with bush caps in his "AK47" range of Modern Africa and just skip all the head swapping. They could work very well I'm thinking.

Whose sailors are you talking about?

Most modern western navies going ashore would equip like their army equivalents and in helmets but probably in lighter kit. For armed action at sea that would depend and you'd need figures in life jackets – the RN, for example, have recently introduced a dark blue overall type rig rather than the old No 8s with the denim shirt and wear a beret.

I'm going for more of the Modern Western look less the helmet looking for more of a soft cover look, ball caps, eight point caps, or bush hats.

You are going to have to go with infantry figures in caps or hats. You might also take at look at the various modern police ranges. As noted above, sailors kitted out for action on shore or at sea look like soldiers. Knowing what you are trying to create might be of some help.

Someone/s, maybe Khurasan and GZG, make corporate security figures and planetary militia figures that might be what you are looking for. They have a uniform appearance, military weapons, and are wearing ball caps.

I can see lots of potential with those sailors, specially in combating Modern or Post Apocalyptic Pirates.

Who knows? If the doomsday forecasters are right for once, we might actually start seeing more exotic things like this:

Yes, Dan
That's part of what I want to do, one use them in Post Apocalyptic game, but I want them for Zombie games and Modern What If's.

I figure that some Navy ships will survive what ever event that could come along, along with their crew and it would be great to play out "What If".

Watch "Last Ship".

You're generally talking about troops in blue coveralls or BDU-style camo, a tactical vest/armor carrier in black, and either ball caps, 8-pointed caps (same as Marines), or helmets.

At sea, we were either in Mustang jackets (windbreaker with floatation foam) or in full on survival suits. So winter troops but painted orange would work.

Yes that is what I'm talking about.

And Thank You for the good information, I know that I'm looking for Shore Parties, but, having on deck crew would be nice and knowing what the standard of dress is, is great to know.

Just remembered that LKM Direct Limited Miniatures has modern US troops in Soft Cover/ball cap, that can work very well, PLUS they also have troops in arctic parkas as well, their Delta Force set could stand in for Navy Seals. Can still use Peter Pigs Professionals w/bush hats for Marine Force Recon and I can use Peter Pigs Marine sets as well. All have modern weapons as well! thumbs up

You may also want to check out Rebel Minis as they have some figures that might work for you.

Khurasan does a set of navy SEALS in full combat gear. Very nice indeed!
