Thank you Mr. Editor. If there is a topic already started about this, someone please point me in the right direction. I didn't see one under "News."

It's From the Editor. Click on the poster's name and then click on the Ignore button on the poster's member page. Ignoring seems to remove and never show topics from the poster on the TMP homepage. They still show up on the boards to which the thread was posted, so it's not a total ignore--just a partial. We now get to see how many people Ignore us. This will be interesting.

Apparently it is working because everything on my home page is missing

LOL! thumbs up

I'm with Stosstruppen, there's nothing on my homepage either.

V/R,
Jack

Nothing on mine also.

Arteis24 May 2014 5:46 p.m. PST

Yes! The 'Ignore' works a treat on my front-page, just hiding the person I've experimented it with, and not even leaving any telltale grey boxes.

I like how you can 'Unignore' them too..

idontbelieveit24 May 2014 5:55 p.m. PST

Thanks very much!

About as useful as Bleeped text on a bull then, I always go directly to the boards themselves. But hey I didn't vote for it either so ……meh

Bleeped texts on a bull would be useful tho, increase in milk production….. no cancel that, unimaginable decline in salami/mettwurst production. Polish the thought!

I think it should be called UBER-STIFLE!

Ah ha, we have the perfect candidate to Ignore, just when one is needed. Thanks, PYP.

Ryan Gebhart24 May 2014 8:23 p.m. PST

EVERY messageboard software in the last 10 years has had an "Ignore" feature.

Even that antiquated relic ConSimWorld implemented an elementary "Ignore" button years ago.

TMP is simply coming up to the level standard and for that we can all be appreciative and proud.

Thank You Editor.

Cheers.

All,

I just went and 'ignored' PYP (above), then went back to the boards, but it's still not working for me. All I get are a few advertisements, a few news stories (what you usually get when visiting TMP Historical or TMP General), and then this:

MESSAGE BOARDS

MARKETPLACE

EXCHANGE

I can click on these to get individual boards, but I have no 'front page' capabilities like I used to . It's driving me nuts as I follow way too many boards to try to go through each of them individually.

Please help!!!

V/R,
Jack

Just Jack Supporting Member of TMP24 May 2014 8:30 p.m. PST

And I've got PYP 'ignored' but I can still see his posts above. Is that supposed to happen?

V/R,
Jack

John the OFM24 May 2014 8:32 p.m. PST

AND it works separately from the Stifle.
Interesting.
I also see that an Ignored felon must be stifled also, but they show up as the usual gray box.
Excellent.

Now, is everybody happy???

I will bitch slap the next person who starts a thread complaining about Tango. You have your tools. Use them.

Arteis24 May 2014 8:32 p.m. PST

Yes, I understand that is supposed to happen, Jack. The Ignore doesn't stifle. I wonder what happens if you both Ignore and Stifle someone?

Just Jack Supporting Member of TMP24 May 2014 8:34 p.m. PST

What's supposed to happen? I have PYP 'ignored' but not 'stifled,' and I see his posts above in this thread still.

I now have threads on the TMP Front Page, but I don't get any threads on the TMP Historical or TMP General pages…

V/R,
Jack

Arteis24 May 2014 8:39 p.m. PST

As I understand it, Jack, what is supposed to happen is that the 'Ignore' hides any topics the target has started on the front-page only.

The 'Ignore' doesn't hide the target's posts from within other people's topics – that is the role of the 'Stifle'.

Is that correct, Mr Editor?

Paint Pig24 May 2014 9:02 p.m. PST

I will bitch slap…

Goodness gracious me how butch.

…the next person who starts a thread complaining about Tango. You have your tools. Use them.

OFM it appears by the the comments above, expectations in previous threads and a little experimentation of my own that the ignore feature is an incomplete tool (as opposed to more commonly found tool) and not nearly as functional as the one being called for/described….

I wonder what happens if you both Ignore and Stifle someone?

….you start to wonder if it is all worthwhile, will the sun come up tomorrow, why the Reds cant win a game, should Argentina and Japan enter teams in the Super League competition and why oh why are there two buttons that provide a quarter of the features individually that one complete function button could have done.

As a NO voter I cant help but grin, yes I know that it is misplaced and doesn't acknowledge the problem of functionality your addressing Arteis …..so being a cheap shot it will be a brief grin.

>start grin:
grin
>end grin:

OK finished

dave
thumbs up

Another chiming in to say that both stifling and ignoring someone works and I see everything else.
I also have all Boards turned ON.

Robert Kennedy24 May 2014 9:33 p.m. PST

I'm glad there is an "Ignore "option but along with the "Stifle" I see no good reason why it should appear on the person's profile.

Robert Kennedy24 May 2014 9:42 p.m. PST

Oh and BTW just for giggles. I looked at my profile and see I have received 4 "ignores" even before I posted anything LOL. But thats ok seeing as 99% of my posts are informational I wouldn't want those who "Ignore" me to see them anyway wink LOL

Pijlie24 May 2014 10:00 p.m. PST

Thank you mr Editor. It's not perfect, but my front page has improved mightily.

I haven't created a new thread outside of the Lounge in months, so my ignores are just wastes of clicks.

Rebelyell2006. I totally agree with ya grin.

Fantastic. I am absolutely delighted with my new TMP front page.
Many thanks Bill

Princeps25 May 2014 4:15 a.m. PST

I was having the issue of all threads gone from my front page as well. I went to member settings and enabled all zones of interest. Everything is back on my home page now.

ghostdog25 May 2014 4:42 a.m. PST

I have been visiting TMP several times at day, almost every day since my first visit in 2001. the two last years, it was a pain to enter the page and seen some kind of user behavior that ruined the experience for anyone interested in the forum, others than for those more interested in social interaction (sorry about my english). I have seen that kind of behaviour in another spanish website some years ago, and totally ruined the experience.
Now, with the ignored option, i have got again my front page.. i am interested in almost all boards, and i come here to get interesting OPINIONS. Thats what i have now, again. Thanks very much

Now to renew my supporting membership.

On my new TMP homepage I have just realised how many wonderful and interesting new posts there are each day. This is just like the old days.

brass125 May 2014 10:23 a.m. PST

No messages on my home page. Tried Ignoring PYP. Got my home page back but he's still there. For test purposes, tried Ignoring the OFM. Still there. Unignored the OFM. Maybe the feature only works if you voted in favor of it.
