While at walmart I found a silicone pot holder. I figured it would make a great mold with the hexagon design on it. link It worked out super easy. I used Durhams water putty. Took about an hour to cure and about a hour to mock out my Giants Causeway. The pencils are slightly smaller than the hexagons so it does have to be jimmied a bit where they connect but I think it was a simple thing to make.
Just need to finish it now! Questions or suggestions always welcome. DZT |

Clever! And while I've seen the Devil's Postpile (a similar formation but in the California Sierra Nevada) I'd never thought about it as wargame terrain. The Giant's Causeway makes for a wonderful and unique terrain piece. |

Thanks all! Dan like I said above they are slightly larger than a standard #2 pencil. Once I get home I can get a more accurate size for you. |

That is a clever use of a found item, bonus for silicone mold material! I can think of a zillion uses for super-cheap, small hexagons – architectural detail, SF shipping crates, solar array etc. |

Now all I have in the brain is hexes, hexes and more hexes. Damn you DZT!!! What you need next is these two ice cube trays and you can make all sorts of hexed terrain, in all kinds of thicknesses:
Large Hex-Cubes measure 1.25" x 1.25" Small Hex-Cubes measure .75" x .75" And this soap mold:
auction And get this chocolate/candy mold too:
