Guys, Here it goes. Looks like I'm going to be away from home on business for longer than I thought, so my project is on hold for a bit. My pics are here: link But
I still want to continue brainstorming with you guys!!! And I definitely want to know if any of the ideas discussed in Part 1 (using plastic boxes and bits to create a freetrader ship and accessible rooms) have been picked up and expanded by some of YOU guys. So, how about it? Have YOU started work on one of your own? Dan Part 1 here (pic heavy): TMP link |

Way back I started collecting big bits and reserving them for making 1/100 ships
I also recently picked up a cool old hard SF 1/100 exploration ship
I want to actually make it but it should be easy to make it look "crashed" for a wargames table
Better yet I could get some GZG vaccine suits in free fall and have a 3D zero G game around it
But I digress. Yes, you've provided some motivation and inspiration! |

I could get some GZG vaccine suits in free fall Vaccine suits? The mind boggles

Actually, the talk of 'plastic boxes' has me thinking about parts trays, with or without removable walls, or lids. Removable cross-walls gives you flexibility, and extras could have door cutouts. Even the ones with solid walls can have sections of same chopped out
Lids allow protection of 'furnishings', as well as the possibility of limited storage. My Aliens-In-A-Drawer was originally planned for something similar. Doug |

Awesome idea, Dan. I'll have to consider how to do that myself. Good start. |

Glad you like the idea! Actually, you could consider it the next logical step after having had some experience using kitchen drawer organizers for other things: TMP link With all my travel work, I usually end up being the "proof-of-concept" guinea pig, because I normally have to take off and leave the projects half done. And boy do I have tons of unfinished projects: link So I have to conform myself to living vicariously most of the year, feeding off what others do after they grasp and run with the ideas. So, someone PLEASE start on your own version and post pics of your progress!!! Thanks, Dan PS. Mr. Harold's work is inspiring: TMP link |

I have the same problem. I hate auto-correct. Dan PS. But glad that TMP has an edit function. |

CC Checking out Your Flicker stuff, has inspired me to try to scuplt, hope I can do as well as some of your stuff. In the mean time I haven't started on a ship yet so to speak, but have ideas that are actually on the drawing board using 1/2 inch grid paper to insure play ability and planning of materials to be use. |

Yes! Start sculpting. And yes! Start the ship from the inside out. Add the bulkhead material on top later. Dan |

Any progress on this, or similar projects, lately? |

So does anyone think building a super structure around paper terrain corridors and rooms is an option? |

I don't see any reason why you couldn't do that. (accidentally double-clicked the posting, making a duplicate, that I deleted, below) |
