I was thinking about running a survival type game, where a ship's crew has become stranded on a planet, and needs to travel to civilization, or away from danger. Trying to come up with some vicious, Sci-Fi creatures for them to deal with, rather than the usual stuff, e.g. xenos (aliens), or predators (vacation aliens), and couldn't think of much, or many options in this scale. So, anyone have any ideas for some four or more legged creatures that they might be trying to avoid/run from? Two legged ones might work too, if they are strange looking enough. Looking for types that even the aliens/predators might worry about, or at least would be sufficiently cunning and challenging enough to give them a run for their money. About the only other ones I can think of are the sponks. Looking for something a little smaller, but the terrain they live in can be wide open, e.g. swamp, desert, prarie, woodland, etc. Not looking for mundane ones, like ants, spiders, or run of the mill dinosaurs really. Something alien, and threatening, that can hunt crewmembers either singly, or in small, or large packs. Thoughts? Seems to me we need some of the miniatures manufacturers to come up with some alien-looking creatures for us to hunt, and to be hunted by. What would a predator like to hunt, and mount on their wall, when not going after humans, or aliens? |

Khurasan has their nice and weird Molchs, and their plant-like Vornids, as two easy picks. Plus the Mantis Stalkers, and the Parasachnid Bioweapons. The 15mm.co.uk Flesharons are also particularly
something: link and the lovely Tentacle Brain Monsters: link You can peruse the Dropship Horizon catalog link for more ideas: link Someone did a batrep featuring some D&D figs with tentacles and beaks as a swarm, can't recall where at the moment. |

Take a look at 28 mm regular stuff – they make for great 15 mm monsters. Some of them are suitable for the pack attacks and are not much bigger than 15 mm figures
others would make for a terrifyingly large monster which would eat aliens and predators for breakfast.
Just a few that are pretty alien, mostly plausible and won't be so huge (except for the worm) that they are out of the question. |

One of these days these are going to be used as large primitive aliens in a 15mm SF game . . .

I hate flogging my own stuff like this, but I have the muccins. I am flogging them here and now because I think they are cool figures that fit as 28s or 15s. They sell really well at cons when people see em in person, but not so much over the web: link |

headzombie, While I cannot speak for the membership as a whole I do not mind you flogging your stuff at all. If manufacturers dont do this I dont find all those goodies I want. Al |

The Shredders, Harriers, and Spitters from the Legion of Everblight for Warmachine/Hordes, from Privateer Press. The Puds from Dark Age. GW's Squigs. EDIT: Ah, you wanted smaller than the Sponk. The Puds still qualify. |

I've been using Blue Moon Twanax in that role. I figure they are quite a bit like the Wampa from Empire Strikes Back
quick moving, strong, tough, and eats everything in sight.

Not sure how big the sponks are; how about Vor Growler Pups? Ironwind metals has a few varieties to pick from.

Old school GW Necromanda Ripperjacks they look like giant leaping fanged face huggers.
Alternatively GW Millisaurs from the same range also look like two meter long armored grubs, they could even be the larva for something bigger still unseen
What i have not seen and think would be a very welcomed addition to 15mm Sci-fi would be a race of creature akin to GW's Zoat's, so miniature companies take note
